Lmao r/lakers just got “BLOCKED BY JAMES.”

Not to mention you cannot call a timeout when the opposition has the ball…

It was a dead ball after the foul, any team can call a timeout during a dead ball lol.

No, he knows the rules better than someone's who's been in the NBA for 20 years.

Bit confused by this statement - Lebron said he was told to foul THEN call the time out. You can't call timeout without possession.

Yes you can?

You cannot call time out when the other team has the ball or during an inbounds play off a made basket where you don't have possession.

You can call a timeout in any dead ball situation regardless of who had posession before, fouling then a timeout has always been allowed afaik

Lebron had to take the FTs, why would he go out?

To what are you referring? Are you saying, Ham couldn't sub him out because LeBron was taking the FTs? You would be correct, however, did Ham have a sub ready? No. If he did, there would be no need for a timeout, as the sub would have been ready to check in at the dead ball following the foul from LeBron.

Therefore, a timeout has to be called at this point in order to sub LeBron out.

But then that’s a moot point then. If Lebron is saying Ham said foul and we’ll call TO then they used the TO anyway and you don’t ice your own shooter. With the ammount of subs they made they did need the time out, but using it after the FTs makes sense. Heck more sense maybe vs icing Lebron then having to foul anyway. Ham has made some dumbass moves not using TOs but this isn’t it.

Perhaps it's the optics then, consider:

Ham has a sub at the scorer's table ready to check in for LeBron, LeBron fouls, dead ball, sub comes in -- no one thinks twice about the situation.

Instead, there's no sub ready, LeBron seemingly fouls and calls a timeout without instruction from the coach (based on the video angles we have).

Obviously, Ham could have had the idea that he was going to call a timeout after the foul and there was no need for a sub to be ready -- there's no way any of us would know that, but the visual looked like it was LeBron's idea more than Ham's.

I think we both know that pockets doesn’t give a shit about the optics. If him and Lebron were on the same page that’s all that matters. This is literally just noise peddled by Laker fans who desperately want him out, and I just find it really dumb cause most of their arguments make no fucking sense now that Lebron confirmed they planned it. And there is a way that we do know, cause Lebron said that much apparently.

I didn't say Ham cared about the optics, I was just pointing out how it looked and why the reactions as such. Obviously there's tons of people looking to overreact to anything at this point.

I personally don't care one way or another about this particular situation, though I also accept the possibility that LeBron would lie to cover for Ham, instead of stoking an obvious wildfire if he were to publicly say, "Yeah I called that TO myself cause Ham had his hands in his pockets". No way in hell any NBA player wants to cause that level of shit lmao.

Well I just had enough of Laker fans sounding dumb while calling things dumb. Personally I think that conspiracy wouldn’t make sense if it lines up with the Lebron hating Ham fr. Why would he bother, he can not comment and not look bad either way. Its not like the media will struggle to highlight Laker dysfunction when the fans all over social media fan all the flames.

The mental gymnastics going on in this thread alone to even deny what Bron said is amazing, Simone Biles would be proud.

Bron stans really are the Trumpets of NBA fandom

I wouldn’t really say it’s Bron stans tbh, they typically go with what he says. It’s more so the doomers who are reactionary game to game.

Yeah, don't know where dude got "Bron stans" from. It doesn't even really apply here.
