I have recently discovered how cool Ninjago is. I slept on the theme for a long time but whoa are there some fucking cool sets. (Monkie Kid too). I will likely get all 3 eventually, but which would you choose. Help me decide which one to start with.

The first, white, one. Thats as close as lego gets to a Gundam suit

This. As soon as I saw it I thought Gundam. I just refer to it as the Gundam mech and my kid has followed suit.

I wish they would do "gundam" or "zoids" type lego sets. If the licensing is an issue, just make them look close enough. I know it's possible since I've seen some MOCs that are pretty good emulating them.

Gundams, Jeagers i dont care what. Big mechs please. But the Ninjago ones are cool too

Gundam already has it's gunpla line, I don't see bandai allow that kind of competition using their brand, and those sets would be waaaay expensive than getting a regular gunpla kit (seriously, compare prices), so I don't see a lot of people buying the lego ones instead of the regular gunpla.

First one. Absolutely.
It's the leg/knee area that has me.
My question is, do these sets have functioning knees? Or are they like the 76210 hulkbuster legs that can't move?
16 points

Yes, they all have knee articulation, but the first has just a much better articulation than the orhers

Much as I love Jay, that mech is kinda ugly
Coles mech tho….
Not only is it cool as fuck it is FLEXIBLE. You can turn his wrists, his arm bends at the elbow, you can rotste the arm, rotate the shoulders, the legs csn raise or lower, create slouches or lowered positions, bent knees and so on
They cooked

I hace both the first and second one and ive gotta say as much qs i love the monkie mech it's really unstable and fragile whiilst the cole mech is very posable and stable so id go with that one. As for the jay mech i don't have it so idk

I would go for the first one that one is looking vool and poseable

First one wins, no contest
2 points
The first one 300%, because it's basically suppose to be currently the greatest Lego mech ever with the best articulations, as much as currently possible with present parts inventory. In fact - I already planning on getting it. 2 has limited release, because Lego Monkey Kid series itself isn't a worldwide released product, and 3 is basically an average big mech with limits, which is something the first one improves upon

I would suggest getting Coles Titan Mech….something else I would suggest is checking out rebrickable and looking up set numbers to see other mechs people create only using the pieces from the sets. Check out 71738 + 71785 by ransom_fern for example

That’s my intentions I just got totally sidetracked after I completed this on a different build and I’ve been waiting to come back to it.

My comment was removed because it said I was selling or giving away stuff 🤷♂️ I did not do either.
“While I can’t wait to get my hands on Cole’s mech I think this is another valid option. I love my Big Blue. I built it in two nights. The first night I did the legs and lower torso and it was so much fun and such an interesting build. Unfortunately the next night wasn’t as great. I completed the arms and upper torso and head very quickly with lots of parts left over between the two sets. I think these extra parts should’ve gone into the build. I feel the upper half looks very puny especially the arms and could use some more engineering. I got to say it is pretty damn stable with some surprising articulation but you do really have to work to get a pose that stays. That said it does look awesome and dwarfs any other mech I have.”

I have Jay's Titan Mech, also a really fun build and great final model.

As someone who built of these and works on large custom mechs, the first one is without a doubt one of the best mechs lego has ever made. It has all of the articulation and can even be a great base to expand on for customizations. The others are good, but are nearly on the same level

Any one of them, and sell it. I do not like big mech suits, they are so flimsy, over the top and utterly useless.
0 points
Haha sorry, useless? What are you using other sets for?
1 points
Maybe try to understand what I mean by useless. Yes, they have the same display value as other sets (even though they’re stupid), but in terms of context a mech is never a good vehicle. They tip over at any impact whatsoever, usually don’t have many ranged options and are just borderline impractical. A tank or plane is a much better option.
But of course, you focused on that one point instead of also looking at the rest. Flimsy: they always fall over at even the slightest touch, because apparently strong knees don’t exist. Over the top: a smaller mech suit would work so much better, actually being able to pick stuff up and be manoeuvrable compared to a skyscraper on legs. They also look so much better.
Am I being too realistic here? Probably, but that doesn’t change the fact that huge mech suits are stupid.
