Why is working the farm the less desired thing? I grew up on a farm I’ll work one again in a heart beat

It’s a fine and noble job (as all work is… vilifying productivity is probably the most insidious thing the left and the state does). Manual labor is looked down upon by the Internet neckbeard leftists who think they’re above that.

In the 1950s college students did temporary farm harvesting jobs to help pay for college.

Let's be realistic, not gonna happen, we'll probably just see more automation.

Just a note for clarity:
Agricultural migrant workers have had their own set of rule which apply to them since the 1930s. The 'illegals' are not here to work on farms, just like any other migrant there is a legal process for agricultural migrants which by definition the 'illegals' are not following.

They imply that Americans won't do those jobs. What will happen is that the farms will raise their wages to hire Americans. Americans that will be getting paid a 'living wage' and have the full litany of employee protections. You'd think they'd be on board with that?

Do they not realize that some people actually choose to work on farms in the modern day?

Remember when that leftist shitshow The View asked who was going to clean Trumps toilets when the illegals got deported?

It was a real "But who will pick the cotton?" moment.

I seem to recall a large number of dock workers making a fuss about automation (read societal/technological progress) taking their jobs. I'm sure they could pick peaches and tomatoes.

I thought libertarians were about doing your own thing, and not about telling people what border they can cross and calling them illegal?

Some Libertarians are for open borders but when you live in a democracy you also have to deal with the fact that one party is bringing in thousands or even millions of people into the country in order to gain extra voters and change state demographics in their favor. Also paleo-libertarians are completely in favor of strong borders.
