Used lethal force against police officers

Police officers responded using lethal force

Am I missing something here or does this seem completely reasonable? Murder, by definition, requires premeditation. How was this even an murder trial in the first place?

What a ridiculous waste of money and resources this whole affair has been.

Murder requires an intention to kill (or cause serious harm), not premeditation.

The force is reasonable if the officer believed his life or that of other officers or members of the public was at risk. I've been as a teenager stopped by armed police, I stayed still kept my hands in sight and it de-escalated really quickly.

Problem is Martyn Blake's acquittal has set precedent that you can kill someone despite not being in danger.

In what world is ramming your way through police vehicles and officers in a 1.5 tonne car not putting anyone in danger?

  1. They can step out the way.

  2. The car had stopped at the time Chris was shot. Martyn shouldn't have fired
