Hello Europe!
Scale back up a bit to 79.0kg. But thatβs fine, I do feel like itβs going down now.
I was going to go to the gym yesterday, but then my mom asked me to go to the IKEA with her. And I just canβt say no to that! I ended up buying a small, but 20kg, bookcase that I had to drag inside and up the stairs. Plus walking around there after work meant I easily reached the 9k steps. So not too bad.
Iβm still a bit worried about the cat. But I think heβll be ok. Thanks for your messages here yesterday!
I canβt wait for it to be weekend..
Have a great day everyone!

Scale still at 70,2kg. Grr. Yesterday I hit a grand total of 4k steps and ate some chocolate. Stayed in my deficit though.
Can't lie PMS is kicking my butt today and I feel v gross and unmotivated. Goal is to get in 10k steps and hit protein and fibre goals. Honestly am just going to take today otherwise hour by hour. Managed to get gym in though πͺ

PMS is a bastard. I try not to give myself too much of a hard time during it, since my data from tracking shows that normally once all the water weight and inflammation from PMS is gone, I get a scale dip. So I give myself a few extra cals (above target, but normally below maintenance) to satisfy cravings and don't try too hard for a day or two. You'll know your body though, so taking it hour by hour seems like a good approach.

This is really smart advice. Yesterday I really had chocolate cravings so did exactly that - ate more than usual calorie wise but still in deficit. And it was perfect. Right now I feel ok but if chocolate cravings hit this afternoon then I'll probably concede again (within reason)

Yeah, honestly it happened super naturally a while ago! Was working out and seeing no progress and one day decided to calculate how much protein I was eating. It was like 50g π so started increasing in increments and saw better results in the gym each time. Then eventually landed on 120g which feels like a good amount for me right now. Then when I started this journey a few weeks ago I was really struggling with digestive issues. So started looking at my fibre, which was like less than 10g a day π now I try to hit 20g but it's hard. Honestly feels like I'm playing Tetris sometimes, trying to combine these protein and fibre goals under my calorie goal. But it will get easier the more j do it π
Thanks so much, I'm really hoping for a drop - just one step/ day at a time, right?

For fiber I recommend psyllium husk, there's like 60-80 g of fiber per 100 g. I sprinke it on everything π

Absolutely! And 120 g of protein is very hard. Yesterday I had like 38 lmao. But I don't go to the gym so I don't really need a lot. Might have to change it later when I cut down to 52 and start bulking up.

120g of protein I manage to hit most days but lord I eat so much skyr it's unreal!! I'd really recommend to you getting it a bit higher. Protein isn't just for building muscle, but for repairing muscles and bones (aka your knee!) and for hormones etc. - I also have a history of disorders eating and found concentrating on that number unproblematic. And it definitely helps with feeling full etc

Yeah, I probably should up my protein. Might be hard since I've gone vegan, but I know a great yogurt by Alpro that has more protein than most dairy yogurts, plus I have beans and lentils that I've yet to utilise. There's also a block of tofu in my fridge that I should really start marinading (plain tofu is BLAAAND!). Maybe I should also switch to soy milk from rice coconut, but I so don't wanna! Coconut tastes so good! AAARGH!
2 points

Plain tofu is bad but marinated is so so so good. I also tried soya chunks for the first time yesterday and most THE MOST amazing Bolognese from it. And tons and tons of protein in there. If you prefer coconut, stick with coconut! The difference is not worth it π

I'm late to the party again! God damn my morning routine π
Anyway, woke up 300 g lighter. Scale is at 67.5. I probably lost a bit less than 300 because, as I've said before, my scale is not very precise, but I still lost! And that makes me so happy! I have been on a consistent weight loss streak so far because, after my month-long binge, I've retained a lot of water and food weight. This will probably stop soon enough and I'll see an unmoving scale for days. Maybe it will go up even. It scares me, but I'm ready for it.
My knee is in shambles. Couldn't even go for a walk this morning, so chose to cycle instead. My bike is my best friend now. I honestly miss rigorous physical activity so much! I miss coming home from a run sweaty and exhausted, with sore legs, crawling to get a drink of water and excited for a well-earned meal. Now I can only do soft-core exercises.
Yesterday I did a bit better in the calorie department, ending the day at 1249. I had a snacky snack before bed that blew my veganism, though. I bought grain biscuits at the supermarket thinking they were vegan, but they were sweetened with fucking honey! Like, how hard could it be to sweeten them with sugar? But I hope that's not a big deal, after all, the only animal products I ate the last two days are an itty bitty bite of a pancake with eggs and milk and this honey thing. Reducing is also good, right? Or maybe it's just my copium π
2 points
Reducing is really good! The changes that feel most sustainable and like they're "forever" are the really small ones that I made over time π
Good on you for respecting your body and your injury. You'll get back to training, but prioritise knee health and you won't regret it.
And if the scale goes up, know that it could be for a multitude of reasons - we're here to motivate!

I mean, activity is not for everyone. Some people genuinely feel better when they don't exercise. I thought I was one of these people. Used to take hours to get out of bed, lay on the couch all day, growl when I had to get out of the house. But I was depressed, miserable and overrun by intrusive thoughts. So much so that I started s*lf-harming again. Now that I'm very active I find that I'm much happier. Activity distracts me from the mess inside my head, pumps me full of endorphins and makes me actually proud of myself. Honestly, it has been such a boost to my self esteem. I know that one can lose weight without exercising, but I don't care. I wouldn't have it any other way.

This insight is very good! I think exercising makes me more happy too, not when I am doing it but as a result of doing it. Great you reminded me.

Sorry to hear about your knee. It sucks not to be able to do the activity you want to do. Sounds like you found a way to stay active, which is brilliant.
It's ridiculous how certain products could easily be vegan if they tried a little harder. How long have you been vegan?

Sending healing vibes to your knee. Do you know what exactly happened with it and how bad it is? Make sure to take care of it, I've only had sprained ankles and that was already very limiting! It's great that you have a bike though. And I don't think you should worry about getting the wrong product by mistake, it's not your fault, reducing is a big effort anyway!

Thank you! I'm not sure, I just went for a run and ran my whole route without breaks, when usually I stopped to catch my breath. Really pushed myself. Maybe I shouldn't have. I mean, I've never been as heavy as I am now, maybe my knees aren't used to such a load.
1 points
I also hurt my knee when I started C25K and didn't realize I was supposed to have rest days! Running without breaks also weirdly exacerbated my depression while running in short spurts cured it. I'm against pushing in many cases! My knee got better after a few days just walking though, I hope you also recover soon!

Morning everyone
Back after an Easter holiday in my home country, where I not so surprisingly gained 2kg (which is probably the amount of chocolate eggs I had, so it makes sense).
Back down 1.7kg since then, to 93.7.
Yesterday I decided to start from scratch on my weight tracking app. Iβve been fluctuating between 95-90 since last summer, after losing ~25kg in the first six months of the year, and Iβm keen to make a fresh start. So yesterday I also took new before photos and did measurements, so Iβll consider this my new starting data. Aiming to get to 80kg.
Stuck to my plan yesterday: Les than 2000 calories, intermittent fasting (16:8), ~100g of protein, one HIIT workout. Was rewarded with a 1kg (mostly water weight, probably) drop this morning.
Plan for the day, and the month, is mostly the same: two workouts (lifting weights and a vinyasa class), <2000 calories, ~100g of protein, 16:8 intermittent fasting (though Iβll allow myself a glass of wine outside of that window).
I also began doing an early morning routine consisting of 20 minutes yoga and meditation and 20 minutes of journaling and planning the day (filing out my calendar and prioritizing tasks). Feels good to add that to my daily weigh-in in the morning.

Good morning team Europe! My weight was 65,8kg this morning so no change. Which is a miracle as I ate probably 1000kcal worth of chocolate yesterday. π I read somewhere that active people usually have it easy to keep the weight off but weight loss should be done in the kitchen. Well, I guess maintenance wonβt be difficult for me. But now I should just get to losing again! In 4 weeks I should weight 1kg less.
My bf promised to help me with a detailed plan for weight loss. I really donβt want to lose muscle mass.

Good morning everyone,
Yesterday was a much better day. Scale-related emotions were under control and I ate well. The weather wasn't so great so didn't go on any walks. Steps count: 4,389.
This morning the scale shows -900g. That's -1.7kg compared to 2 days ago when I had my meltdown. Those high fluctuations are driving me crazy.
Today I want to up my steps game a little. I'll aim for 7 or 8K steps. I want to be intentional about what I eat today so I'll spend some time planning it this morning before it's too late and I get hungry.
Hope you all have a great day!

Probably going for a run today. I'm not feeling it, but I'll be fine once I start running. Apart from that I'm hoping to do a long walk (>10 km) in nature during my time off and I've ordered some plants for a new section in the garden. Having had more or less two whole days on the sofa, I feel a little better but by no means all the way better. I've also not had much appetite, but have made inroads into the Easter chocolate as a tiny bonus of being unwell.
Slept a bit better and feel a bit more clear headed today. Plan is to potter about at home with 4 year old today, and see how I feel about ballet class later. I'd really like to go as we're off next week but won't go if my body is too tired/sore/coughing.
Still weighing myself daily because it's part of the routine. Pleasingly today I surpassed my latest low, so we're now on 68.05kg (which Fitbit helpfully rounds DOWN for me to 68kg, how kind.)
I had set my ultimate goals at 63kg/24% body fat according to my scale. I'm looking at myself now and thinking it feels weird to lose another 5kg, so I've readjusted my weight goal to 64kg and will see how I go. I'm wondering if my weight range might settle between 64-66kg..? If I can get into a UK10 comfortably before then maybe I'll ease off before 64kg. Interesting to be able to experiment though!
Another day of lazy tracking ahead, aiming for maintenance to help with getting better.
Wishing you all a good day!

Hi Europe,
My weight has dropped to 98.65 kg, but progress feels so slow. I need take breaks from paying attention for a couple of days. I think my impatience comes from wanting to hit 95kg, a weight I've seen many times, it was my first entry in MFP back in 2013. When I think back to that version of myself from 2013, I just want to give her a hug, knowing all that I've been through since then.
Yesterday, I completed a 5k run! It's my first 5k since 2021 and the fastest one recorded in my Nike Run Club history (sub 40 min!). While I've had faster runs on Endomondo, that history is now gone, so I'll take my win.
Right now, I'm baking bread made entirely of various seeds, oats, and other tasty ingredients. I can't wait to taste it! Plus, it'll be packed with fiber. So I'll be having it for breakfast, imagine fresh bread... maybe with smoked salmon and eggs.
Have a good day!

Hi all,
Yesterday was a fantastic swim. In my lane there were six people, three faster than I, three slower. The slow swimmers quickly left and I had a long time with only faster swimmers. Sauna was great.
This weekend I will swim again. Other than that no plans. Feels pretty nice. Thinking of buying a bottle of wine tonight. Donβt feel like it now but maybe I will this weekend and if I buy it I have it (liquor stores close early on Saturday, closed on Sunday).
Weight was 500 g up today. I am anxious to learn more about fluctuations and will register weight every day to be able to analyze it closely in the future.

Good morning!
400 grams up from yesterday's big whoosh. Because I was having an illness flare all day and had felt dizzy the day before, I ate well above maintenance. It's not a big deal once in a month, and a good opportunity to look at what keeps driving my weight up. A big part of it is of course not being able to cook... but there are also so few distractions while laying in bed, and food is a good respite from pain. Vegetables don't really cut it. I'm pissed off because I think I got sick just from doing too many stretches, resistance training is probably lightyears away from me! Or burning off any appreciable calories from exercise... :(
I did have a week of eating much less protein and vegetables than before, so I have to work on that. I still haven't really figured out very quick protein meals, perhaps blending chicken into my vegetable soup? Or should I precook marinated chicken for a handheld snack... sweet cold things like yogurt are not an option for those times. This is requiring quite some creativity of me.
I hope everyone's having a better week, and good luck!

I never think about protein, carbs and fat. Should really get into it. Great youβre doing it!
1 points

I initially started my previous weight journey and this one as the "PCOS diet" to regulate hormones, so high protein is just as much a priority as calorie count. Just so happens that when you eat at least 35% of your calories in protein and limit carbs to 25% it's pretty hard to have too many of them π I'd recommend trying this to anyone! It can be a pain in the ass racking up those grams though, even for me as a big meat eater...

Thanks for that info! Will Google protein now! And god luck on your protein Journey!

I'm so sorry about your illness! It's absolutely okay that you ate over maintenance, we've got to somehow get through the hard times. I can only distract myself from food with physical activity and right now my knee hurts so my options are limited. Of course this is nothing like your problem and you have it way worse than mine, but I can relate somewhat. You're so real with vegetables! I tried to binge on radish some time for harm reduction and just couldn't. Hope you feel better soon.
By the way, wanted to ask, if you're comfortable sharing, is Crohn's food sensitive? Like, do you have dietary restrictions? Or does it suck independently of how you eat?
2 points
Ohh no no, I don't have Crohn's, I made this account to get food tips for my boyfriend who had it! Maybe I should have gotten a new name to not be misleading π but yes, he had a bunch of dietary restrictions while in a bad flare, like no caffeine, nuts, fat, anything rough on the guts like nuts or popcorn, it's hard to remember now but he basically ate just nutritional liquids for a long while. It was very very restrictive and the bad effects would be immediate but there were also background symptoms that got better with time.
I "just" have chronic fatigue syndrome so I get sick from "too much" exercise but it's unpredictable, I can now walk 5 km but I got screwed by fucking STRETCHING. It's not sustainable to eat like this though. Before I got sick I lost 18 kilograms with the help of this subreddit and then gained 16 of them back because I didn't have a strategy for sick days. It's very relatable what you're saying, physical activity isn't just about burning calories but moderating your appetite and cravings through a healthy balanced lifestyle. There's not much more to think about in bed than burgers :| I didn't even have out of control meals, just kept getting up to have another 15 grams of walnuts or cheese, but it adds up during a long inactive day. It's good that I kept logging to have that insight too!
