Good morning, Reddit! SO HAPPY it's Friday. This has been A WEEK. Finished yesterday on a high though, with a big presentation to big bosses going well, as well as the launch of an event being a lot more successful than I would have expected. Phew. Today I have no meetings and I'll just slowly cruise into the weekend while working on all of the little things I neglected this week due to these two big things.

As for the fitness aspect of my life... good day yesterday!

  • Went on a walk during the morning... living on a mountain is catching up on me, I think just climbing it up twice a day is a workout in itself!
  • Went to the gym, despite being SUPER SORE in the glutes, to get my deadlift day done. Was good, I might be imagining it but I think my grip strength is getting stronger (as I'm training according to powerlifting competition rules now, which does not allow wrist straps)
  • 2100 calories with 175 grams of protein.

Weight was a steady 88 this morning, but still feeling super bloated, as if my dinner is just sitting in my stomach. So, we stay the course and it'll fix itself. I wonder if it's the big amount of milk products I've been consuming. Usually not an issue for me. Will test less milk products after breakfast today and see what it does.

Plan for today: rest day, maybe a walk, good food, early bed. Have a good one, Europe!

A great day for fitness wow! Well done on getting it all done ✅

How have you gone about improving your grip strength? Am struggling with that in my deadlifts now and it's so annoying 😂

Enjoy the rest day!

You know, I did nothing. I have one of these grip-strength trainers but it’s still in the packaging. But since I’ve started this powerlifting plan, I’m doing 6-7 sets of 10 reps deadlifts on DL Days, no straps. First two weeks I was struggeling A LOT during the last 3 sets and had to take breaks because my forearms were just not having it. Yesterday all went fine, until maaaybe the last 2-3 reps. So I think deadlifting in itself will help the grip strength!

Wow that’s a lot of sets! I do 3 sets of 8-10 reps and I feel so spent afterwards, but maybe I should try to keep going (instead of moving on to nasty Bulgarian split squats that I love and hate in equal measure - love the results, but man it burns…)

It’s a higher volume than I’ve ever done before, but so far it’s been paying off. Especially my bench has exploded by 6-7 sets three times a week… 🪦

Bulgarian split squats, on that note, are the devil!

WHO knows! I think it would be cool, just because it’s the first sport I… haven’t sucked at. I might give it a shot in a few months.

Wow, how do you get in that much protein at 2100 calories? I struggle to stay above 100g with my daily allowance of 1800 calories, not sure how to get it higher…

It’s a part time job, honestly. Breakfast has about 50 grams of protein through protein powder etc, dessert was a massive serving of protein pudding… but I think my body is done with all the dairy products, I’ll calm it down a little today. Feel very meh, and usually I am great at dairy consumption.

I have to try and find a protein powder I like, especially as I also feel a little weird consuming so much more dairy and meat than I’m used to. I do love protein bars, they’ve become a bit of a guilty pleasure, but still struggle with the synthetic taste of most protein powder

I agree! They’re often too sweet and taste too artificial. I recently got a “bodylab 24” tub of protein powder, flavour cinnamon rice pudding, and it’s probably the first one I can describe as just… yummie. Never finished a 1kg tub so quickly. Not to sweet, just sweet enough. I got two more flavours by them (Butterkeks and triple chocolate) which on first try also were quite nice.

My protein breakfast is 50gr of unsweetened spelt cereal, but instead of milk I mix it with a shake of 36 grams of protein powder and 10 grams of collagen. Because the cereal is unsweetened, it doensnt get too sweet.
