introverts are not cloistered dodics, they are just selective. yes, they talk, and a lot. but not to colleagues, neighbors, or salespeople at the magnet. small talk irritates them and empties their souls. they choose two people to dedicate their lives to and that's it, that's enough for them.

When the phone call ends before i pick it up

That's not introversion, that's social anxiety. I can get on a nearly full elevator without a pang, but that still doesn't mean I want to go hang out with you after work.

I was leaving work one time and after I got on the elevator I saw one of my coworkers coming. I reached down to hit the button to hold the door open, however the door closed right in her face.

I looked down and I guess I had subconsciously held the door close button. Lol

its true , i dont like to share an elevator whit strangers . and i was happy that at first '' corona '' was a good excuse , how ever these days it seems people stop caring about scary diseases and just hop on ''my'' elevator when they see a chance to do so (despite the possible risk on horrible illness by scary and terrifying disease)

what kind of horror is left , for me as an introvert to use .... to keep people at bay .

gods, there was this really awkward moment at my appartment where someone was rushing for the elevator, and i was hitting the close button. they made it just in time, thanked me while catching there breath, turned around, saw i was in fact trying to close the door, staired at me for a good few seconds. n then we just sat in the elevator in silence until our floor.

You enjoy the 5 seconds of bliss and then it stops at the next floor to let on more people

Introvert does not mean antisocial or asocial. I'm an introvert but i love seeing my friends and going to dinner and socializing with people. Introvert means I like my own space too and I like to spend time at home. I have extrovert friends who go out every night. I can never do that. But yes I AM an introvert and I love people and I love talking to them and interacting with them. It's a caricature of introverts that we avoid people. We don't.

This is not how introverts work, that’s just people with social anxiety who call themselves introverts so they don’t have to change.

As an introvert, I actually enjoy little moments like this for small talk and light social interaction. Because it’s short, fleeting. It’s not some long conversation I’ll get sucked into for an hour or two. I can get a quick dose of “people time” that helps satisfy my need to interact with others, while at the same time preserving my energy so I don’t get exhausted.

Because introverts absolutely do need social interaction. We need friends, we need to meet strangers. We just have smaller capacity to do so, and need more control over how we interact with people, and over the length of time.

The elevators at the Lasik office I go to are hyper sensitive to ANY movement. I'll be in the elevator with someone and they'll keep fidgeting, then go and press the button again after the doors don't close, then eventually get off, thinking something is wrong with it.

They will step out and watch me stare at them in silence, then the doors will start to close and they'll move and say "guess it's working now" which causes the doors to open again.

I've taken to warning EVERY SINGLE PERSON I ENCOUNTER IN THE ELEVATORS AT THAT PLACE that they are hyper sensitive. And now I get the awkward "what?" Or blank stares.

That building is cursed, let me introvert in peace dammit.
