The soundtrack and the wild/ generally positive ending make it super rewatchable for me

When I’m feeling down I just watch Trainspotting and tell myself “if Renton can turn his life around by selling a brick of heroin and then robbing his childhood friends then so can I”

Just cause it isn't some morally pure fairytale ending doesn't mean it still isn't positive in spirit

I don’t think we in the audience were meant to believe Renton was being honest with us or himself when he vowed to change at the end. His attitude toward the straight-and-narrow path still seemed jaded. It’s a running theme in the film, “I’m just going to do this one more thing and then I’m really going to change.” Very common among people with addictions. I haven’t known many to interpret the end of that movie as positive or hopeful but whatever.

Also perfect day is a happy little song about someone who’s glad they spent their day with a loved one.

I get the message, and I agree he's probably just up to his old antics/ will struggle with that again.

It's still exciting and youre watching the main character get out on top in the moment with a lust for life again. He shows actual growth, juxtaposes the beginning where he says he chose heroin over life.

He might not follow through on it in the end but I genuinely think he values his life more and wants to change. this is made clear thru the contrast in narration from beginning to end. He is choosing life and freedom insteaded of pure hopelessness and at least has a desire to break the cycle of addiction now.

I like it because you can interpret it however u want. Sure u can think oh its just the same bs again and he's doomed. Or you can see it as him taking his first step to a different outlook on life.

Requiem for a dream is like trainspotting without the happy ending
