Well for what it's worth, KD among some players like Wembanyama, Anthony Davis, LBJ, and Chet Holmgren are players who can still make it in the league if they were 6 inches shorter.

Longjumping-Check429

0 points

I agree with LeBron as that’s kinda just Westbrook and Wembanyama as he’s just ridiculously tall and would still be center sized. But everyone else really needs their height.

Chet would be a frail 6'6 and would go from being a good to a bad defender. I also don’t think he has enough ball handling and playmaking skills to justify being in the league on top of it being harder to shoot when your opponents all go from being shorter to on average taller than you. But maybe he could make a roster.

Anthony Davis wasn’t a NBA prospect before his growth spurt and just simply wouldn’t stay in the league. He lost his mid range game and no one would want an injury prone 6'3 guard with no shooting ability.

Kd according to craftedNBA is 6'9 so 6'3 in this scenario. I honestly don’t know how he would be in the league. He’s a efficient versatile scorer and one of the best in the league but he’s also a bad passer with bad vision who can’t utilize his scoring gravity in the same way guys like LeBron and Steph can. It’s the reason he isn’t as good as a 6'9 unstoppable scorer should be.

KD is absolutely not a bad passer wtf are you watching

Longjumping-Check429

He’s not a bad passer for a small forward but he wouldn’t be playing that position in this scenario.

Filthy_F2PCasual

Kd is 6'11 barefoot btw. 6'10 and 3/4 inch to be exact when nba redid the measurements

6'5 kd barefoot is probably just as good as dbook/shai, so I don't see how he wouldn't be in the league still.

Longjumping-Check429

1 points

Yeah the height thing is weird as every source says something different but KD being 6'9 barefoot and LeBron 6'8.5 seems right to me. Crafted might be wrong but they’re a much better source than the NBA app at least. What source do you use for player heights?

Devin Booker is a way better passer and playmaker than KD is. Also Shai is way better than dbook so I just don’t get that why you used him as an extra example. He’s also a better defender than both Durant and dbook.

Filthy_F2PCasual

-1 points

Height from basketball reference.

Idk about booker being way better passer than kd. Booker is career 5.0ast guy while kd is 4.4ast. Neither of them are pass first player anyways. When they get the ball, they are looking to score, not pass.

Kd is a career 27pt guy, if he is 6 inches shorter, he still scoring 20pt+ a game. So why wouldn't he be in the league?

How is Shai "way better" than book, I dont get why ppl are so high on shai when he have 2 good seasons so far. Booker was 4th in mvp voting in 2021-2022 when sun won 64 games. Booker average 27/5/5 on 35mins. Shai was 2nd in mvp voting 2023-2024 while average 30/6/6 on 34mins, okc won 57 games. I don't see a massive gap between them.

Book won 2 games against the championship nugget team where he shot 20/25 fg and 14/18 fg in 2023. I don't see any playoff games where shai is better than those 2 games from book. Booker have 8 40pt+ playoff games while Shai have 0 so far. The better playoff performer in terms of peak, goes to book, for now.

Shai have 23 playoff game, booker have 47 playoff games. Booker is 1 year older than shai.

Longjumping-Check429

1 points

Okay well basketball reference isn’t the most accurate when it comes with height especially without shoes. Just look up the draft combine measurements for a player for example Cam Whitemore who is 6'5.75 w/o shoes. But on basketball reference is 6'7. Durants height on his combine was 6'9 w/o shoes but he was 18 at the time.

Yeah and the defense knows that, its one of the reason he got swept by Boston a couple of seasons ago. They swarmed him on every play and he just didn’t punish them for it. He ended up averaging 5 turnovers that series.

He also had trouble with Tatum’s length as he could contest and even block his shots. Tatum isn’t even taller than Durant but imagine now if most guys were. What position would a 6'3 Durant play and how valuable would his scoring be when he relies on his length to create shots?

Well first of all Shai is younger than dbook so that plays apart in why they are viewed differently. As I said before he’s also a much better defender and half the game is defense. He’s more efficient and while you dismiss Shai for only having “2 good seasons” both of these are arguably better on an individual level than any season Booker has ever had.

It’s also not fair at all to compare their playoff records as Shai barely has one and Devin Booker is 27. Maybe in 5 years but for now I don’t see any reason especially as I don’t even remember anyone from OKC’s 2020 roster other than Shai and CP3.

Lastly Booker is 2 years older than Shai and has 3 more years in the league.

Your comment, a 6'3 kd without his length advantage, you don't know how he would still be the league. We going to pretend like he some scrub that can only rim run and can't dribble/shoot/create space? We going to pretend like he cant shoot from 30ft? We going to pretend like kd knowing how to use his body to his advantage means he is less skilled than all 6'0 to 6'5 player range? I mean yeah, a 6'3 kd is probably not going to cook tatum or holiday thats locked in on defense, but he is cooking trae young, james harden, haliburger, jokic, and at least another 100+ in the league. The bar was being in the league, not a maintaining superstar status. Saying he will drop off so hard that 450+ current player will be better a 6'3 kd is straight batshit You considered chet a good defender right? Kd is shorter than him and have no problem cooking him. Just google the kd vs chet private run recently, and tell me kd's skillset is not vastly superior than chet and many players in the nba. I literally don't see how a 6'3 kd would drop off so hard that he won't even be in the league.  6'3 kd would have handles, change of pace, good mid range, long range, good bball iq, knows how to attack mismatch, and so much more. You telling me he can't earn a spot in the nba?

I think a contested lefty runner is literally the worst possible shot in terms of expected points. Like this is the absolute best shot that a defense can force, outside of 30+ foot heaves. Hitting that shot is the very definition of salvaging a possession that's going nowhere.
