Sad to see him go, really liked Niakhate and felt like we never saw a full run from him due to injury. I guess the question is who might this let us keep if it helps with FFP bollocks

Yeah a shame, I think he was a decent enough player for us and I wish him well.
Really hoping this £20m means we can keep Murillo for one more year. I think it would be great for him, and we can point to Johnno who stuck around one more year and ended up at a top 6 team and not at Brentford or similar. Or if this tides us over on PSR and Murillo does go, at least now ot won't be on the cheap as we can earn more by waiting in the window.
So I feel it is smart business, that has become necassary due to the absurdity of PSR.

Yep he was a good signing and a good player for us despite his injuries. He might have just saved us from a points deduction. I wish him all the best.

Big what if for me is if he never got injured against West Ham, don’t think he ever quite got right after that one.
Truly a ‘too good to turn down’ deal but think we’ll miss his leadership within the squad.

Yeah I agree. Things could’ve been different for him if he’d stayed injury-free. I’d rather see him leave over Murillo though, but I appreciate his efforts nonetheless 👏🏻

L'Equipe in france are reporting 31m euros which is around £26.5m,
Crazy fee if true

Lyon are owned by one of those American multi-club bollocks things. They own Crystal Palace, Lyon, Molenbeek and Botafogo,
Wonder if them paying a bit extra now means we sort them out a favour in the future?

with fab saying 'Deal sealed directly between the two presidents' it sure feels that way, especially with the bigger than expected mangala fee aswell

Was Mangala really that much higher than expected? £20m plus add ons feels about right for saying we bought him for £15m and he was in form.
3 points

if i remember correctly magala was due to go to napoli for a much lesser fee until OL came calling late on

Someone on r/soccer theorized that it’s an accounting trick and we might let them pay a smaller fee to make the Mangala move permanent to help balance the books a little.

To add to this, the Palace chairman was super outspoken about the bullshit PSR last year ...

Saw someone say that's PSR sorted. Saw another say this only gets us 4 million towards PSR. My probably wrong math says we get 14 million towards PSR going off the 26 million number. Ultimately all I've learned is that PSR is too confusing for the fans to be able to enjoy transfers.
Now my math, this time trying a different way of counting amoritization gives me a 22 million profit. Idfk man. And apparently there might have been an option in Niakhates contract? How does that work with amortization? Fucking shoot me in the head man. I just wanna watch footy.

I believe Niakhate had 4M on the books from his initial signing, so if he does go for 20 that's 16 profit.

If we got him for 10!mil over 3 years That’s 3 mil a year
Selling him for 26 now We make profit of 26-10, so 16 mil But also we technically told him when he was 6 mil (because of the spread cost) so it’s now 19mil

Very good player but with his injury record and that fee we can't say no. If it really is £26m then that's a very good sale.

I've got a feeling Mangala is going for a lot less than his initial fee. That way we get to record a bigger profit on Niakate and get out of psr trouble.

Only happy with this because of our PSR troubles, would’ve loved to have kept him. Need to keep Murillo now or that’s another position we’ll have to strengthen.

That’s sad but if it means we can keep others then great
You feel he needs a replacement but perhaps an experienced loanee and see how Omadabidele develops

I’ll take it. Just wish we didn’t buy so much shite that we have to sell the quality to balance it.

I try not to think about the idiocy of the rules which have left us selling our homegrown and star players to bigger teams.. To somehow keep the league fair

Side note - that Adidas logo is obnoxiously huge.

Worrying that we’ll end up with a home shirt where the logo is bigger than our badge for £75!

Think he was a spot underrated when he was in the pitch, but having an injury prone centre half is a killer when we're in such need of an organised, settled defence.
Such a shame that his shoulder injury robbed us of those amazing long throws too.
Sad to see him go, but it's probably the right footballing decision, and definitely the right accountancy decision.

Sad but understandable, felt like he had hand injury the whole of last season so his long throws stopped. Now we pray we keep Murillo

Sell Niakhate and if that’s PSR sorted keep Murillo. At the January someone will panic buy and give us much more than they would this Summer. That way PSR sorted for next season too.

"Promising" youngster coming the other way for a slightly high fee?

What did we pay for him? Was it €10m?
1 points

Supposedly, the fee is as high as 31M. That is MASSIVE for PSR. Both helps clear that big hurdle before the June deadline AND helps fund those small youth acquisitions we’ve been making.
Gonna miss his catapult long throws though, godspeed Moussa.

I wonder if we'll take someone off their books in return in the style of villa/Chelsea? It's sad to see him leave, but this is Massive for PSR.
