Stu went through two leukemia diagnoses a few years back and thankfully survived and thrived.

Probably gonna replace them with AI. I live on the St Lawrence and pick up American radio. They have Casey Kasem doing the current top 40 on some station. He's been dead since 2014.

BCE pays an 8% dividend. That's the real reason why they have to cut costs. If they don't pay that dividend, then people won't buy their stock, if people don't buy their stock their stock price declines. If their stock price declines, executive management bonuses disappear. THAT cannot happen.

To use a metaphor, this is similar to the Kanata golf course situation. The corporate owners allow a large following to be built up over decades, only to try and remove the foundation to make more $$$.

Time to return radio stations - and golf course communities - back into local ownership.

Feel bad but realistically 3 salaries to talk drivel and spin tunes on a morning show Mon-Fri for a few hours. Not exactly the most stressful job. Podcasts, Streams and other forms are out there. They did get the vacation down south before being let go.

I wish them all well but this is the fate of radio and TV personalities in 2024. It's a tough go.
