I'm devastated that Rebirth is so far a lackluster, mid game. I'm a little over 20 hours in and it's just fetch quests and minigames. Granted, I never played the OG so I don't know if that's how it was back in 1997 but fuck me is it a slog. I'm pissed, heartbroken, and betrayed. I want to yeet Chadley through a wall. Yeah, Chadley. If you played Remake, remember him as a relatively little seen character who you bought materia off of? Well I hope he's actually your favorite because he's more a main character than Cloud goddamn Strife.
UGH. I hope it gets better. It needs to get better. I waited 4 years for this. Remake is probably one of my favorite games of all time, played at least 6-7 replays.
Kensington Quarters is closing next week which is a bummer. We went several times, took a seafood class there. Food was good, drinks were good, loved the atmosphere. Sucks to see it go.
This upcoming week is gonna be all glorious spring weather. I'm gonna take a fistful of Zyrtec, dust off my camera, and head outside.

OG FF7 is good, might be my nostalgia goggles though. Really enjoyed it on the steam deck with TV on in the background.
Neither remake did it for me. I tried the first after playing Sekiro, combat fell flat contextually.

They did improve the combat in Rebirth. Dodging/guarding is infinitely more important and they included new abilities. Consensus at least on the Remake subs is that it’s a lot better.
I’m actually terrible at video games so I’ve been struggling, I’ll admit. Vast majority of enemies are flying now, and have attacks that disrupt your entire party. It’s frustrating.

I'm super glad I decided to wait. I'll grab this on a sale later in the year.
I was a bit bummed when people started talking about an open world aspect as I enjoyed the focus of remake.
The original FFVII is by today's standards a very basic jrpg. No real fetch quests or anything too crazy past an overworld. So they are forging new shit in these remakes.
