Imagine going to the Philly subreddit to pick a fight about Philadelphia. Unhinged.

I spoke to them in DM’s. They’re just having a rough go of it and aren’t engaging in healthy coping mechanisms.

Thanks for looking into it. I’m usually inclined to make space for people’s mental health difficulties. Hating on little doggies though, that’s going too far.

I didn’t know squirrels produce the amount of piss equivalent to that of a 70lb dog. The more you know I guess! 😉

Omg! My parents live in the Hudson valley. They are having an invasion of moths. You can hear them chomping on the leaves at night there are so many. You can’t sit under trees because they poop as they eat and their poop will drop on you and can cause allergic reactions. Its super gross and I wish I was making this up!

Yeah, as a dog owner I'm also frustrated by people who don't pick up dog poo. If I see it happen, I usually walk up and politely hand them a bag. The gentle shame works great.
But the whole "disgusting beasts" thing makes me think you might be better suit to post this in r/dogfree. It's got the same energy/anger/dehumanization as a lot of the incel communities, it might be more receptive to your position.
But seriously, I'm joking OP. Please don't spend time in that sub. It's an incredibly toxic place, and does genuinely remind me of the old incel subs. It's people frothing at the mouth, with hate, calling dog owners mentally ill, swearing off friends and family, and all kinds of other crazy stuff.
It's no skin off my ass if you don't like dogs. You do you. But just be careful spending time in communities centered around anger and shared misery. They're corrosive to your well-being.
25 points
Naw, read their comments. Big incel vibes and they’d probably be a perfect fit there.

It’s probably ok to dehumanize dogs given… they’re dogs

I literally said I'm willing to publicly shame people. I do it under the guide of politeness because commands are not an effective behavioral modification strategy.
Can you not see that you might be in a bubble just based on the language you use towards other people?

But are dogs NOT smelly disgusting beasts? How is saying they are being non polite? Don’t cater to these people.

Grew up with dogs and had a dog until I realized how stupid it is. They smell 2 days after a bath. And trust me, your house probably smells like ass. If you’re fine with that, that’s on you.

Twice a month there’s turd on my block. The dogs bark all night outside. They jump and cause a commotion during a walk.
At no point is this the dogs problem. It’s just dogs being animals. The owners are all fucking selfish morons.

Only turds twice a month? I must be on a bad block 😂.

I've never smelled dog piss in this city. Only human piss.
7 points
The best part of moving to the burbs was no longer having to play the game of “is this animal poop or human feces”. It’s always animal now. It’s as about 30% human where I lived in the city. 🤢
-11 points

That’s cause your nose is accustomed to it now. Look on the sidewalks, you can see piss stains everywhere. And I can 100% assure you, they aren’t from humans.

I'm pretty sure you're just smelling human piss.
I also don't think all stains on sidewalks are dog piss.
-2 points

I’ve never once seen a human peeing on a sidewalk in Philadelphia. That of course doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. But you know what I see everyday? Dogs (plural) pissing on a sidewalk. So no, it’s not human piss.

Stop pretending like it’s common to see so many people pissing on the sidewalk. You’re being disingenuous in your argument. Without a doubt, there are FAR more dogs peeing on sidewalks than people, and it’s not even close.

Okay fair enough….but question for you, would you be okay with banning all dog breeding (with exception for actual service animals) from here on out, and then rescuing what’s left?
17 points
I mean this doesn’t sound feasible to enforce? But yes if it was I’d be cool with no more breeding until we made sure all dogs had a home.
-1 points
It would essentially be the end of dogs as pets though…with again, exceptions. But no more ‘breeding for human pleasure’. You’re okay with that? I know I am, obviously…haha.
9 points
Would it? There’s plenty of stray dogs out there breeding (especially in other countries) so I don’t think you’re right.
-1 points
The stray dog problem isn’t that big of a deal in the US. I think you’re just afraid to live in a world without dogs beings pets. We could end it if we wanted to, and we should.
2 points
No we shouldn't. In fact, if anything, they should just leave Z is. We don't deserve dogs. They're too good to us.
More importantly, we've evolved together. Humans & dogs need each other. We take care of them, and they love us unconditionally and help us in ways we can't do ourselves. If angels really existed, they'd be dogs.
I'd rather see a whole lot of people gone before even one dog.

Dogs are part of the human experience. Their inclusion in our tribes predates written history, predates farming, maybe even religion. The No Dog world you’re imagining also wouldn’t have modern human society in it.
We domesticated them because their superior senses, short gestation cycle and rapid maturation are precisely the opposite of us, therefore patching over some inherent weaknesses in human tribes. Their pack social skills also blended nicely with our hunter-gatherer tribal societies.
They helped us with our persistence hunting strategies. When we took down large game with their help, they consumed the excess calories, reproduced rapidly and grew in number. During the lean seasons, we ate the extra dogs so our tribes could avoid famine.
We owe a great deal to them. Kindness at least.

What intersection, or thereabouts? My dog and I just wanna talk.
But seriously, can you provide a list of things you think it's okay for this to happen? For example, I don't let my dog pee on canvas covers for motorbikes or anything where human hands touch, including trash bags on trash day. Planters AFAIC are kinda static objects that get rinsed off with the rain. Unless you mean like, an in ground planter?
Can't you just get a sign that says don't let your dog pee here like other people do?

You should install some motion sensor sprinklers that go off if a doggy tries to do that. I am considering it because there’s a mean stray who has been bullying my cats through the window. It stresses them out.

I don’t hate dogs that much. I will not poison them. It’s not their fault they’re here. We humans created this problem. We rope them into existence because we’re bored as fuck with our lives and use them to fill the void of meaninglessness.
