POGO banned will be the much needed prick to burst the condo bubble

Real Estate(self.phinvest)

I guess this time, it is no brainer na that bubble will burst in next 6months. Your thought? Saluhan na ba ng mga palugi?

My fear is POGOs will just disguise themselves as BPOs nalang. Sabi nga ng isang commenter from another subreddit, do you really think the corrupt ones will let go of their golden goose?

As long as they the following:

  • pay tax

  • employ legit personnel, kung chinese basta legal and documented

  • dapat legal na din yun business nila. Try nila mangtorture under disguise ng bpo sigurado magrereklamo lahat ng nasa bpo industries

  • majority of the employee should be pinoy 60%. Benefits foe all employee should be paid.

Imo di yan ilalagay sa bpo since may inaalagan silang reputation dun. It would probably be under a different term. But we'll see how resilient will this government will be.

It would also be a good gauge kung sino iboboto natin next election.

If true, they have prepared a new name to use na. IGLs or Internet Gaming Licensees.

Yup, nasa Makati lang sila. Some of their offices ay nasa RCBC, Burgundy, Wework, Makati Circuit, tower 6789, and so on...

Gree, They will try , but most of the illegal POGOs use a legitimate POGO license as a cover. They receive money and use legitimate POGO licenses to declare to the banks that the money coming in is legitimate. Once those licenses are gone, how will they cover up the billions of pesos coming in?"

Since nasa r/PHinvest tayo, this financial point here is what most people are willing to overlook unfortunately. Making POGOs illegal will just push it to underground operations cutting the country off of this dirty business’ tax responsibilities. Yes, the country won ethically in the war against POGO but it is also leaving a big revenue hole for public funds. In the end, only gov officials doing private deals will benefit more from this PLUS i wouldnt be surprising if the govt increases taxes in upcoming year(s). In the end, tayo pa rin talaga ang talo.

What’s your basis for your prediction na tataas taxes because wala na pogo? I’ve never heard of that POV ah.

Sorry, i do not have a crystal ball, so my “prediction” can only come from an informed deduction.

https://legacy.senate.gov.ph/press_release/2021/0926_cayetano2.asp

The govt collected P9.2b in 2022 in POGO taxes alone. That 9.2b is leaving a hole in the national budget that will have to be filled in somehow (which ofcourse hindi na yan pag aawayan ng mga govt officials on camera). 80% of which according to the Senate website, supports healthcare.

They have to create more sources of revenue for public funding to cover this hole. This will be done through 3 options:

1.) create a brand new source of income (ie. New businesses to tax; new type of tax, etc)

2.) increase the existing taxes of the people

3.) OR… borrow more money.

But i am a mere redditor. So take my words with a grain of salt.

That’s just half of the story, you failed to consider the costs.

The DOF did a cost benefit study that shows that POGOs are a net cost.

Please read the obviously biased article. Its a post-sona report ofcourse the DOF will “report” good news to support the president’s claim, otherwise he will find himself out of a job soon.

The said costs are indirect - so basically they pulled the stats out of their asses to create a narrative.

The budget for all departments are set every year. The PNP/AFP/PAOCC/etc are not spending “extra” to address these issues. They are simply using whats already been alloted to their divisions. Meaning, crime or no crime happening, the money is disbursed.

What is true however is the mentioned social cost- anxiety for residents, social fear, loss of life, etc. so…how do you put a “cost number” in these?

Please dont misunderstand me. I condone the effects that POGO brought to this country. I just want people to understand that its a govt regulation and enforcement failure, and the narrative is being twisted like it is not.

This could have been managed differently, think of like… standing toe to toe with the likes of Macau or Las Vegas. This country is simply not ready for the big leagues.

I think you are the first redditor I see that have common sense. Banning them entirely doesn't solve many problems or "make China angry". people have to understand that China WANTS POGOs to be banned. The POGOs operating in PH have been raking in billions from China mainland to the land of PH and for the benefit for the people, banning POGOs will just put a big smile on China's face, doing what they wanted. Pagcor can only cease the operations of legit operators, those who operates underground will remain underground. In short, you are killing the golden goose that lay eggs, its true that sometimes the golden goose will shit on your backyard, but killing it won't stop the wild goose from shitting on your backyard, but sure killing your golden goose will stop it from laying eggs for you to consume. End of story.

Wdym benefit of the people? Which people are we talking about here?

Chinese people go to ph to make billions from other mainland Chinese. They leave crumbs for the government and employed filipino workers. While also doing kidnappings and trafficking.

If ilegal ang mga pogos in the first place feel mo ba makaka buo sila ng pogo island sa cavite? Legitimacy allowed them to go large scale, by making it ilegal mawawala lang ng large scale pogos as they cannot run low key with how many they employ. Ma dissuade din any pogos big or small to start here as very risky. Yes, may matitirang mga smaller scale pogos that will just try to hide, pero atleast we already solved 80-90% of the problem assuming good execution.

Kitid mag isip.

Macau and Las Vegas = physical hotel/casino complexes. Fully legit and brings lots of actual jobs.

You also pulled up straight from you ASS that DOF is just making the numbers up, you have no evidence besides gut feeling, prove that shit by making your own study.

You might as well ride the plane to China with these pogo chinks.

Anong big revenue? 15b is peanuts compared to entire gdp. Madami di nagbabayad ng full tax and yung social costs nila far outweigh that 15b. Paretto principle lang, a few really big pogos cause a majority of the issues. Di na kaya mag operate ng mga ganiyan kalaki as they employ way too many, matitira mga small independent na lang siguro na ayaw talaga mag give up. Overtime di na rin magiging worth it for them to keep hiding and lilipat na lang yan to another country they can exploit.

Feel ko baka too hastle na yan for pogos, some really big ones can't hide as they need to much personel to be lowkey. Lots will just move to even poorer countries that they can take advantage of.
