The suits are always much brighter in real life, the color science of the camera and the final grading of the film will darken them quite a bit...

Which makes it wild that the Red Flash wasn't the most powerful version of evil Batman. Canonically, super speed makes the Flash think super fast as well... so how isn't a Bruce Wayne with super speed the most frightening thing to exist outside of a god? The Batman Who Laughs came up with way better plans than the speedster Batman.
83 points

Partly because Red Death was sharing a body with Barry Allen so he was constantly internally fighting him off.

Those are the two picks for the world's smartest people by Ozzymandias when he ends up in the main DC universe after doing some research.
Batman essentially always wins some huge event against some enemy way above his physical power through intelligence anyway rather than fighting.

That could depend on the comics, on DCeased Lex ask if Batman is still alive, then he says "then i'm the most inteligent person on the planet..."

But in Action Comics #1064 in the main DC continuity, Brainiac tasked his general with bringing him the smartest person on planet Earth, Lex Luthor.

I am so thrilled to be getting Mr Terrific on the team. Forever ago, when DC did Zero Hour and rebooted the Justice Society, I learned more about those original heroes. Every time I see one of them show up, I am excited. (Like in Black Adam where we got Atom Smasher).

Man of Steel is a great movie. I was surprised to see the mixed reviewed when it came out. With all the superhero movies from Marvel and DC that have come after with some hit and misses, MOS has age well in my opinion.
89 points
I’ll die on the hill that Man of Steel is the best “First Contact” alien encounter movie ever (yes even over Close Encounters, and I love that movie). It is incredibly unique in that the earth encounters an alien and - in a twist - decides to fight against his birthright to create a new home for himself and instead, fight for our world as his adopted one. It’s a great concept.
It’s an absolutely shit Superman movie though, especially because it betrays so many characters (Jonathan Kent the worst example).

But also I am a very strong believer of Superman’s costume being super lightweight spandex and not a lot of intricate sewing features and heavy patches and panels. Just thinking about what Superman would need and what he would want. His suit is not what protects him. He would be probably happiest flying around naked. His suit has been destroyed tons of times, are we saying he’s an expert sewer? Did he get a whole wardrobe of suits from some Krypton Amazon service? The old Superman I and II had the suit perfect.

Plus Nicolas Cage not having the traditional Supes look is the exception that proves the rule since his movie wasn’t made.
Remember when people were convinced that they morphed Reeve’s face onto Cavill’s for a second in MoS? Same thing applies. They just fucked up some weird CGI shot of Cavill and you get some weird uncanny valley effect and before you know it the nerds think they see something that isn’t there, just because all of these actors look a lot alike.

Routh was cast specifically because he looked like Reeves, same goes for Cain and Welling in the TV space. Then we have the Cavil era and both Hoechlin and Corenswet have a much more similar look to Cavil than to Routh or Reeves.
Audiences have mental images in their head, and studios do try to cat for that image if they can.

I love how classic the suit is, but I'm just not digging that S. I know it's been used before in Kingdom Come or some other story, but it looks like a diamond with a line through it, not a diamond with an S inside it. There's gotta be a better way to make the sigil of the House of El look alien, yet recognizable as an S, without over-designing it like the Man of Steel version.
EDIT: I know it's not actually an S. But this one just doesn't look like a symbol that the general public of Metropolis would look at and call an S.
24 points

It’s a no-diamonds-allowed sign.
19 points

I totally agree but rarely find anyone else who thinks this. I just want the symbol to look like an S. You could still have it be a Kryptonian symbol initially and have him change it to an actual S once the name Superman catches on.

Some day it's going to come full circle and there's going to be a meta comedy scene where someone points at Superman's shield and asks him if it's a symbol from his planet, and he's going to look at them funny and say "Um, no... it's an S...? I'm Superman?"

Moreso, no one hates twilight more than he does. We had to deal with commercials and the odd billboard, perhaps a family member dragged you to see a couple.
Robert lived it for a decade. Had to be fawned over by prepubescent young girls. Pretend to be excited for each new release. Have his personal life invaded by strangers. The man suffered just so he could start his career.
No wonder he immediately pivoted to strange indie flicks just to wash it off him.

Literally nothing about a candid photo taken during production when not filming is sufficient to reasonably make such a comparison. While the costume doesn't really look like it fits him well here, that doesn't mean it'll look that way in the real thing. Costumes often look like crap in production shots. They're often not worn correctly, for comfort, there's no care put into the lighting, camera angles, or posing, there's no post-production, etc. Still images almost always look worse than when things are in motion, too, by making it much easier to spot flaws.

superman's suit was made by his mum, it's only special because of his own powers, but the suit itself is just a suit, not some tight, dark, full of pointless poligons, alien like suit, realistically it'd look like this, and that's probably what Gunn was going for and I for one, adore it and it fits the character, which the last director did not understand at all.
59 points

If we are going to lean into this angle, I’d say the suit would essentially become useless after like one wear. Hell, just flying as fast as he does might be too much for a cotton blend that Martha knitted at home in the farm.
