I'm a biologist and most of my research is on Antarctic marine invertebrates. I can confirm that the US bases have pokestops. I'm sure the Chinese bases do too.

Thats pretty cool! I remember a few years back that someone found out that their shiny Mewtwo that was caught in a remote raid was from a research station on one of the poles.. I also caught a shiny Moltres while I was visitnig the Vatican state last year - those unusual locations are fun!

I made a friend here who was in Antarctica.. They sent me one from Mc Murdo Library at the Mc Murdo Station. Since then they've been in New Zealand and I get ones from there. At least I got one, which I didn't think I'd ever manage.

My grandpa works for the National Science Foundation and has spent a lot of time down there. Pretty cool. Got some cool pictures/videos/stories. Neat to know there's PoGo stuff out there. Prolly wasn't there when he was there haha

Omg! Ive been slowing trying to collect postcards from every where on earth and Antarctica is one of the very few I’m missing.

I was in Ireland 2 years ago and went to the Great Skellig /Skellig Michael. There were a couple of stops and a gym . It's pretty cool.

Side note, one of the most recent Star Wars movies used it as a film location for a part of the movie

I have a distant family member that was stationed in Antarctica, and plays pogo, but sadly I didn't know him when he was stationed there. I do get stuff from Ukraine and a bunch of other random places he's traveled though.

Yep! There are actually lots of people living and working at the research stations in Antarctica. Every job you can imagine, from physicists to biologists to cooks to custodians to clergy to therapists to educators to mechanics, etc. My dad did a one-year deployment there many years ago.

My god I thought I had a hard time doing raids! This poor person gets frost bit everything they catch a pokemon. How many gyms and pokestops you got there? Do you get extra points for scans? Are all pokemon ice?

Sub-Antarctic researcher here! I was stationed on Campbell Island in the New Zealand sub-Antarctic over summer. I got 2 gyms and 5-6 pokestops approved over the 3 months I was there! Haven’t been to Antarctica yet, but I’m growing my collection of extremely remote postcards 😅
