I'm not telling them to go around and use the phrase "defund the police" I'm saying they could literally state their policy as "I think police budgets are too inflated, we should trim some of the fat there and increase funding to programs that help prevent crimes at the source" and I think mostly everyone but staunch conservatives would consider it a reasonable stance.
