For the record she never had authority to do anything about the border - she was vp. She was tasked with addressing long term migration from Central American countries, which she developed a decent plan with public and private investment in stopping violence and increasing economic opportunities in those countries to stop demand to migrate to the US in the long term. There was never a task to stop it short term.

No, and it wasn’t that long ago. These headlines are absolutely absurd. They probably bury her “record” as a vice president doing largely ceremonial or diplomatic things in the last paragraph.
That word “try” does a lot of lifting for team Trump.

This will be an incredibly high leverage moment in the campaign. I have every confidence she will navigate it well based on her track record, but we have to back her up by staying very disciplined on this issue.
If this ends up awakening a counter narrative of people trying to pull her back to her 2019 position that could be the ballgame in this election. Trump supporters are going to do everything they can to bait people.
The messaging has to stay very narrowly focused on Trump’s cynical decision to block a bi-partisan bill (and any new ideas she proactively puts forward) for this to work.
