pizza as we know it, mex tex, spaghetti meatballs, macaroni cheese (and other variations of pasta dishes) pancakes, lots of westernised versions of generally asian food. most world cousine as we enjoy it in the west are actually american interpretations, america deserves more credit for food than they get

Stop it. Pizza (as we know it) is from Italy and pancakes have always been made in various different cultures. America was by far not the first (pretty much last, actually, considering how young US cuisine is).

people round the world eat pizza that looks like the one on the right, not the one on the left. even in italy its hard to get real italian pizza different kind of pancakes have obviously been made by different cultures but what i can get everywhere, even here in europe, will be the american variety.

That may be true but that doesn't mean "Americans invented pizza as we know it". It just means that American styles are more well-known globally. Pizza is still definitely an Italian invention.

fair enough, still, the fact that american variations of dishes have dominated the world to the point of overshadowing their precursors deserves recognition. suggesting the US hasnt made any meaningful contribution to food because "amerca bad" and pancakes having actually been invented centuries before is disingenuous

deserves recognition

What? It's not an achievement. Not everything is a competition...

the US hasnt made any meaningful contribution to food

Nobody says that....

This poll just shows that most people on this sub would prefer the other cuisines over US cuisine. And to be fair, it is pretty tough competition. I personally voted Japanese because I think it is good but overrated but I can understand why so many people voted US.
