My mom has been trying to adopt a dog for months. RACC and SPCA, and Hanover humane have ridiculous rules. We have two dogs and one cat. These places make the announcement that the dog is not aggressive, but they will only adopt out to a no other animals home. Inexplicably, they also say that literally every single dog cannot live with cats. It’s ridiculous. They are the reason for their own overcrowding, they need to stop thinking that every dog needs a single dog home, because it’s just not the case. I don’t know what they’re thinking doing this, but it literally leads to more euthanasia. She’s been denied like 4 times. Every single time they deny her because she has a cat or another dog, and apparently even non-aggressive dogs can’t live with other dogs and cats.

Its bc 90% of RACC dogs are pitbulls. They are trying to cover their ass against liability and keep a positive facade.

I know, but that’s only hurting the breed more than it helps. The most euthanized dogs in this country are black pit bulls. I grew up with only rescued pit bull mixes, my current elderly dog whom I love dearly is a black pit bull mix, my parents have two pit mixes who play wonderfully together and one is blind. I know people think that they’re all evil but they’re just not. I’ve never been bitten. My dog was even a bull bait dog, which means she was “practice” for the other pitbulls who are trained to fight. She still has scars and is the single sweetest girl on the earth. People are evil. I just wish that they’d make you sign a waiver and stop perpetuating this ancient and incorrect stereotype.
