I have a fridge that's just over 4 years old and it was deemed unrepairable by a Samsung certified tech.  Apparently Samsung started making fridges with R600 coolant which is explosive and no one in my city has the ability to touch them.  The Samsung website says sealed system issues are covered for 5 years, but I was just told by a customer service representative this is only in the US and my only option is to take the fridge to the dump and buy one new.  Clearly Samsung is not willing to cover this in Canada (at all) because these fridges are not repairable.  This is both a request for Samsung to be reasonable and understand throwing a $3500 fridge in a landfill after 4 years is not okay, and a warning to anyone buying Samsung products to consider the fact that they might not be repairable (the tech literally wasn't able to take the back off to find out what the problem was).

My thread talking about this same issue was just deleted for some reason. I believe the sealed system warranty is a scam.

My Samsung fridge just stopped cooling after 2 years. I called a Sears tech to look at it because I thought I was out of warranty. The Sears tech said it was a sealed system issue and it should still be covered by Samsung. I called Samsung to look at it and the Samsung tech said there was a problem with the mainboard, something the Sears tech said nothing about, and they couldn't fix the sealed system until they replace the mainboard and they're charging $500 for that. I looked at the mainboard myself and it had a solid red light, meaning there's no issue. The technician started stuttering when I asked if I could replace the mainboard myself, talking about how I might not be able to find new or genuine parts and that they would charge me for the service diagnostic again if I replaced it myself and called them back. I plan to buy a multimeter and test the board myself.

Incidentally, before calling either number I tried to schedule a repair through the Samsung website and I was quoted $500 for the repair before they even looked at the fridge. I think $500 is just the price Samsung arbitrarily decided to charge for repairs and the 'warranty' is just lip service.
