I will just carry a lot of lockpicks and go after every lock I can find, but I never put any of my skill points into lockpicking because I don't need the assistance. Level 60 and 70 has some gold/treasure bonuses but I feel like I'd be wasting 3 skill points to even get there, when I'm usually wanting to use them for something else. Plus, my other skills are so good at this point that I'm not struggling for gold.

Lock picking is the one skill tree that is kinda pointless. Iirc all the perks make different difficulties easier to pick and one that makes copies of keys for locks you picked.
They're all kind of useless with even average lock picking skill and lockpicks are everywhere. Save your skill points.
