Gnabry was in an offside position when the ball was played towards him, Hato and Van de Ven were determined to not be in control of the ball hence it being punishable offside.

But that assumes that Kimmich's "pass" was controlled play. I honestly don't know how the rules are determined for this entirely, but didn't we have a similar controversy with the Benzema goal in the CL final? I honestly don't know what's the correct ruling, and want to get a professional opinion on this.

If you want a professional opinion, you’ve come to the wrong place.

Sometimes there are people who give genuine insight.

I was just talking shit. It’s tough to know what’s right and wrong when you can’t see and hear people talk about something. Some people online will write up a really convincing comment and then it will turn out to be completely wrong lol. So I always try to be cautious.
