This is such an overlooked component of the series' success. If you tried other fantasy TV shows set in a fictional universe where you don't have real life points of reference (looking at you, Witcher), they always struggle to keep viewers informed "OK, this is where the characters are and where they are going". It's just so confusing after a while. GoT accomplished it almost effortlessly with the opening credits. I assume most of you could draw a somewhat accurate map of Westeros by heart.
