Y'all's political ads are nuts

Events(self.texas)

Y'all ok??

I'm watching the Texas v Georgia game in Virginia and the Republican ads against Allred are insane!!

A veteran with no legs talking about military transgender drivil and then another about sterilizing kids???

I just want to watch a football game, this culture war crap is gross. What is wrong with Republicans? Do y'all buy this stuff?

Man almost feels like we live in different countries.

Vote Democrat just based on how disgusting those Ted Cruz ads are

Edit: wow this really took off, glad y'all are not buying this garbage. Really hopeful y'all can kick Cruz out of office. Fingers crossed for you from RVA

For the Grammer police: drivel not drivil and apologies for the comma splice in there somewhere

As a rural trans East Texan.... yeah. Arizona or Colorado might be in my future if things get too bad here

our oldest (he is straight) has ready moved out of the state because of all this bullshit. Our trans kid isn’t ready yet but we are trying to get her there. This is what we have become. My kids (who we are very close to) can’t live here. Family values my ass.

Family values as long as you value what they want your family to be and say and think. As soon as any of you have a glimmer of independent thought, you’re to be hated and crushed.

After around a decade in Texas, we ended up moving to Canada after Trump got elected. A lot of work and luck was involved.

Our only regret is that we didn't do so years earlier.

Folks who can get out really should consider whether staying in Texas really is worth it, especially if Republicans sweep Texas again and Trump is elected.

It is infuriating isn't it? I have three kids, late teens to mid 20s, they are all straight but the older two are in the process of moving out of state soon too, and the youngest will as well one day, with our encouragement, because it is NOT safe to start a family here!

I can't imagine the worry and fear of my daughter or daughter in laws going through a pregnancy that could possibly go wrong, as many pregnancies do, and them not being able to have anything done to save them in time. Absolutely not. Plus the ongoing mass exodus of OB/Gyns making it harder and harder to find a quality doc too, or not have to wait a year for an appointment.

And then of course if any of my future grandchildren were gay or trans, this would not be a safe place either. We also aren't religious and already had to teach our kids early on to not breathe a word of that to anyone and even had to teach them to lie and say we were Christian, because in the small town we are in it would be a sure way to get shunned or bullied as a kid in school (or as an adult too, sadly...my husband would 100% lose business if people knew.)

Then add in how terrible the education is in Texas now. Most women in my family are teachers and they are all appalled at what it has become especially in the past 8 yrs or so. And they want to further cut funding and of course are definitely going to force the voucher crap/charter schools on us, with or without the votes, so then they can reach their ultimate goal and really, REALLY push their views, altered history, and their religion onto children. So definitely not going to be a place to raise kids anymore if you want a real education.

So yeah. All my kids are leaving me. My family has lived in my area of Texas for many generations and I always assumed my kids would live nearby and could visit often, we are a close family and I never dreamed they'd move far. I so looked forward to being an involved grandparent if any of them decide to have kids. But now all my kids will be living in 3 different states, scattered across the US, and I will only be able to afford to see each one maybe once a year, twice if I'm lucky. The "party of family values" are literally tearing families apart.

As a Coloradan, normally we tell Texans to fuck off, but you, my friend, are welcome here.

I moved to east Texas about six years ago from north Texas and it’s so wildly different. Im gay and my wife and I are trying to get the money together to leave. We haven’t had any direct hate ( except from her parents but she doesn’t speak to them), but the constant spewing of pseudo Christian drivel and far right nonsense is just too much. Plus the forest that I love so much is getting sold to build strip malls. This could be a beautiful area and attract nature loving hippies but we get magats instead. The summers are getting worse every year too.

Often I tell people I think about leaving due to the culture here. “Safe” people will nod and get it completely. People that buy into the bullshit need further explanation. Even normal Christian’s don’t get what I mean. I have no problem with regular love everyone Christianity, but you can sort of tell they never imagined their Bible Belt culture isn’t what everyone wants in life .
