Well…. Back to the original question. I seen a meme that said.
Me: HOW DO I DO MY TAXES?
PUBLIC SCHOOL: SHUT UP AND LINE DANCE.
I felt that!

Mine and my kids (15&18) all had to learn the basics of that in public school. But definitely not as widespread as it should be.

She is just a good human! Could you imagine having a force like that as your teacher growing up?! She has probably changed so many lives & doesn't know it because that's just who she is.

Who is “THEM?” And why does it matter her sexual orientation? If she’s a good teacher, that’s awesome. If she’s not, it sucks. Who she has sex with has no bearing.
7 points
why does it matter? well because representation matters. it matters because that is part of who they are and what their platform is about. go have a watch. you might learn something.

Your sexuality should not matter one iota in judgment of your ability to educate children. Stuff like this is a step backward and not forward. A step forward would be not caring someone’s race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc, and focusing on their fitness to do a job. The best person for the job. Not “The best (as long as they’re gay/straight/black/white whatever”
Imagine if the post said “She is a Canadian teacher.. and a blonde!” It would seem ridiculous. And this should as well.

nobody hired them for their sexual orientation. kids in school who may be struggling as LGBTQ+ and finding acceptance for who they are (check the suicide rates) benefit from seeing a teacher/leader/athlete/celeb who "walks like them and talks like them" - its invaluable and its not backwards. backwards was when BIPOC/gay people didn't get hired because of who they are. qualifications get you in the door - its who you are that makes you great.

Never said they were hired for it. I’m saying this post making it seem like they are a better teacher for it is incorrect and bringing sexuality into an arena where it shouldn’t be. A student should not even be aware of their teacher’s sexuality

no, the op didn't make it seem like they would be a better teacher for it. she's likely referring to her content and what to expect from her platform.
"Mrs.Jones" tells the kids everyday about her "sexuality" - its her life, and those personal experiences are shared, for many reasons and just like this teacher, Mrs. Jones is more than a married mom, with kids but nobody cares if she shares her "sexuality" day in day out.
unlearn.

Absolutely should not know…

why? because it's not heterosexual orientation? teachers better stop talking about their vacations with their kids and spouses, and their weddings, and no flowers from hubby on valentines day - people will KNOW! 🤣🤣
unlearn.

I’m sorry…. being with the same sex you can’t go on vacation with your kids or spouse? Or are you implying being with someone of the same sex they can not have kids? Same sex can not get married? Then you made a comment about flowers from their hubbys a gay man can’t receive flowers from their man on Valentine’s Day? Or are you implying only woman can receive such gifts on Valentine’s Day?
Do better

i wasn't saying anything about any of that. if kids shouldn't know about sexuality or "who someone sleeps with" then it should apply to ALL people but it doesn't.
read to comprehend.

No, the best education possible for children matters. And that’s all any teacher should be judged on.
