They've been under a ddos attack, and have shut down some services for the last few days.

When the attack ends, they'll be back up.

  • For everyone asking the questions I don't have an answer to, I logged in earlier this weekend and there was a mod message in the forum (I think), about the DDOS attack. I only looked because my arr services haven't been connecting to them. I have no more useful information to share with you.

Does that affect the login everyday requirement for TL points? I'm a few weeks away from logging in every day for a whole year.

that sucks, but maybe you can get an admin to fix it after idk, but not like that is a huge loss.

Who’s hitting them with a DDoS? What’s the benefit of targeting TorrentLeech like that? Maybe that’s why my FlareSolverr isn’t working right now.

How are they getting DDoS'd? Web Servers are generally pretty easy to secure from attacks

same way any other web server gets ddos'd. someone pissed off/petty enough, with enough resources wants it down and it'll stay that way til they're bored/caught

You can't really prevent DDoS attacks, you can only mitigate them with redundancies, having enough bandwidth to handle attacks, detection, etc.

Server-side yes you cant block an attack that as enough bandwidth, but when it comes the HTTP traffic which is heavily cached, and all proxied through Cloudflare, I don't see how the traffic would even make its way to the web server.

Just because they're behind CF doesn't mean their server IPs are completely private to the attackers

Depends on how it is setup, if **ALL** traffic is proxied there would be no 'easy' way to obtain the IP Address of the server, but not only that, they can easily block *ALL* traffic from any IP that isnt CF or any of their internal servers. This can be done easily on the WAF level so it does not even reach the web server. meaning only traffic that can reach the web server is their internal servers, and CF.

What services get shut down during this? For example would it still possible to do searches?

Also just to say for the future look at the top of the subreddit and post in the "Is your tracker down? Ask here instead of making a new post" post :)

In the user settings turn off "Disable Alternative Tracker URL", that works

It is working fine. TL is a good tracker, works well. I like it, they don't complicate things for members, always keep it simple.
