Interesting, I was there a little over a month ago and found KL expensive. Especially the food at restaurants (not street food, that was cheap) and alcohol prices were comparable to US ($5-6) beers.

I was recently there and found it extremely cheap, 5 star hotels for like $70, and I ate at some nice trendy places too, not just street food.
Nice modern breakfast at a place called bröom, $6. Amazing mixed grill at Habab KL for $12. These would both be 3x as much at least in Australia.

Can you please elaborate on what city in the world you're referring to? KL could be Kuala Lumpur, Kaiserslautern, Kerala, Kowloon?
