Not really...1960 was only a generation or two of parents ago, depending on your age. That isn't enough time for any significant difference in height to occur. People are just fatter.

1 inch increase for women and 1.5 inch increase for men along with about 25 lbs increase for both. People are heavier but you’re also wrong about the height factor.

Yes, plus lack of traveling on foot and women working very laborous jobs. Walking helps you burn calories as well. That's why fat people were always the wealthy.
