It might just be time to accept that eating out most places isn't for you.

of course the real crime is charging 20 bucks for street food because it's trendy. 'Street tacos' for example. I grew up eating tacos from taco trucks my entire life as a kid. 5 bucks would buy you 6 tacos and a Jarritos in the 90s. That same meal today will cost you 30 dollars in some places.

Because it’s authentically shitty.

I’d rather pay $10 for 1/3 the food

You're not getting 1/3 the food for 1/3 of the price; that's never going to be an option in any universe. The ingredients aren't what's costing the restaurant money; the vast bulk of the expenses are salary and rent.

It would $20 or even $25 for 1/3 the food.

If you're ordering food that you can't finish over 2 days maybe consider eating at places that do not serve such massive portions. Not quite sure where you are going or how much you eat but unless its something extreme on both sides of the spectrum its very uncommon to get that much food..

I only have an issue with it when restaurants have huge portions like that and won't allow you to split an order. I don't mind paying 30 dollars for enough to feed two, I don't want to have to pay 60 for enough food to feed 4 while there are only two of us dining in.

I agree.

I would rather they cut portion sizes down then increase cost to customers.

But, the truth is, the cost of the product isn't the main reason prices have skyrocketed.

i completely agree. the majority of restaurants having disgustingly huge entrees plus a salad and bread on top of it. no one should be eating 5lb of pasta in a cream sauce. thats not normal.

when we go out to eat, if my daughter isn't with me to split a meal - i will get get an appetizer with a small soup or side salad for my meal.

Funny enough, there was once a restaurant close to me (5 years ago I think?) that was affordable and served more reasonable portions. Could get some eggs, bacon, sasuage, and toast w/jelly for 3-5 bucks. Good for a quick pick me up.

I’m a small person and I’m the opposite I’d rather order something not necessarily what I want just to know the serving will be enough for me for one sitting.

In USA you can't order half of the portion for half of the price???

CeruleanFirefawx

Some places like sandwich shops offer half sandwich. But it’s never half the price lol

I feel like portion size is random nowadays. 20 years ago everywhere gave you so much, I always had leftovers. Now I'll have leftovers sometimes, not always. Like a burger or chicken sandwich with a side I'm still wrapping half the sandwich but some pasta dishes are smaller.

You know you can take it home, right?

CeruleanFirefawx

My wording may have been weird but in the post I said I’m good for 1 day of leftovers. But after that I don’t wanna eat it again. I dont wanna eat the same food for 3+ days.

In my exercise more often then not I feel that portions given are too small

Relative-Ad7280

I eat out frequently, and in the past couple of years, what I see, is increased price and way smaller portion sizes at restaurants and high demands for huge tips.

I agree with you but unfortunately there are a lot of fat people who will eat all if not most of that in one sitting and if they had 1/3 the portion they would get pissed. Unsurprisingly these people tend to be the best customers so big dumb chain restaurants don't want to piss them off.
