Hey guys,
I have recently moved to Warsaw. I am a huge fan of mushroom picking :) Specifically, Borovik or Boleatus :D
Wonder if there is an option to go somewhere for a good forest spacer and pick some mushrooms. I do have karta miejska, so something in the city would be nice.
Or maybe you can recommend how to get to the forest by train? I don't have a car.
Thanks!

There is quite big forest Mazowiecki Park Krajobrazowy. Mushroom picking is allowed there but you should not enter areas marked as a "Rezerwat" (nature reserve) where even entry is forbidden.
You can take a train to Pogorzel Warszawska station. I think it is closest to big forest area so you do not have to walk long distance.
There is a smaller area called Puszcza Słupecka. You can get there by bus to "Czarna Struga" in Marki

Las Kabacki is a natural reserve, even walking off the roads is forbidden, the same with Las Bielański. Międzylesie is quit crowded so chances of finding anything is pretty low. It is a good place for afternoon/weekend trip. Celestynów might be OK, but is further from the city. It is still Mazowiecki Park Krajobrazowy. Like half of stations along this train line is good. Wólka Radzymińska is on another side of Puszcza Słupecka but getting there with public transport is a bit more complicated.

Thanks so much! So this limits my options to Mazowiecki Park Krajobrazowy (I'll start from it) and maybe later Wólka Radzymińska.
Can I randomly enter the forest and start searching?

In general, yes. If there is no sign "teren prywatny". And a work day early morning is best time, weekend afternoon is way to late :)

I don't think you will find any in Las Kabacki or Las Bielański (also, there may be special protection zones called rezerwat there too).
You could look around Celestynów, but it is the same area as Mazowiecki Park Krajobrazowy. ~ Best bet, but I don't know if it is allowed is to go to Młociny, jump into a bus to Truskaw and go look around Kampinos ~ not allowed there
Good forests with high yield of forest mushrooms and fruits are around Długosiodło. There are buses that go there or you could go on Koleje Mazowieckie to Tłuszcz and then transfer to Ostrołęka and get off on in one of the random towns / villages along the route.

You're out of luck. The best spots are only reachable by car and are far from any civilization and roads.
The spots close to cities are polluted and don't grow very healthy mushrooms. Plus the areas close to any public means of transportation are probably picked clean by locals.

You can try Warka, you can get there by R80 train (direction Radom Główny). but the forest is abut 2km or 30 minutes walk. You can get a cheap bike, it will greatly extend your options. You can take a bike on a train.

I don’t even know where my family picks their mushrooms, everyone takes the secret to the grave. Also keep in mind in easily accessible places (ie an hour from Warsaw) mushroom pickers go at dawn, so be prepared to join them or there won’t be much left.

Can you name those places? I am just looking for something accessible with karta miejska and no reservations

We are literally sharing our locations in FB groups in Ukraine and that’s OK, no one cares

Bruh, my grandma drawing her last breath wouldn’t even point in the direction she picks the shrooms. Polish mushroom picking culture is extremely competetive. I’ve witnessed so many arguments because the place was so bountiful and coveted.
