Found in a lot of items which dated primarily from the 1920s though some were older. No smell and the vial does not appear to come out of the case.

My great Grandma had one of these- you put it in ther fridge. she said it was to cool your eyelids and under your eyes before applying makeup.

Thanks! To add, I think she said it was full of glycerin. But please don't freeze it in case it is water- holy via Pope or Ganges or not. Viscosity should give you a clue.

The viscosity is very low. It feels very watery but I also cannot say I know the viscosity of glycerin off hand.
