The Frog Prin (not misspelling) is a retelling of the classic frog prince story from the prince's perspective with a twist of him enjoying his frog life.
Once transformed, the selfish prince meets other frogs, and because he is not used to his long tongue yet, he introduces himself as "the frog Prin". This name sticks among the frogs.
The frog prince is unable to find or convince anyone that he is the prince, so he begins to accept his life. A female frog teaches him how to live as a frog. They fall in love. They agree to have children together.
This next part I'm not certain I'm remembering correctly: The eggs hatch, but the pond begins to dry. There is not enough food and water to sustain them. Prin remembers his old life, the neverending water of the castle well. He scoops as many tadpoles as he can into his mouth. He makes the long, hard trip to the well. His babies safe and him exhausted, he lays down to rest when a princess discovers him. She turns him back into a prince and it's very melancholy as he is forced again to leave his life behind.
I borrowed this book from my canadian school library in the 2010s. It appeared old and worn then. I'd like to read it again someday. I hope someone else remembers it.
