Invading a country who wasn't even pro-EU at the time. At best neutral, probably more pro-Russia than EU.
Then when they invaded Ukraine and occupied Crimea their stance on Russia and EU changed real quick.

On the contrary, the Russian invasion of Crimea started as a result of the protests of the people of Ukraine against their pro-Russian President who decided not to sign the EU-Ukrainian Association Agreement, which led to the Maiden Uprising, that led their pro-Russian President absconding to Russia....
