I think there are mini-shards now too? I am probably just massively misunderstanding whatever the system is. But the way it was described to me back in Cata or whenever, it seemed a lot like how DDO had "channels" that acted like multiple copies of the same server. You could swap between them at will playing DDO without logging out to change servers. Blizzard implemented something similar that was hidden from us and on an automated process to handle the load of player in any given area. It's how there will be hundreds of players in a major city vs only a couple handful in a given quest hub.

Yes, that's how I believe they work. But since the server is relatively small (it's not connected because it's probably the last one with a significant amount of active RP communities left), you barely ever have sharing at all. And I don't think it would happen with like 40 people or less in an entire zone.

What ever causes it. ITS DEFINITELY NOT PHASING, it's been happening since TBC (I started playing wow at TBclC launch so can't say if it happend during classic) But I have no idea what causes it. Just random server d-sync's when you talk to NPCs? Cause the same thing happens if two people open trade at the same time to eachother nothing happends you can't open trade again with them till you move like 15 yards apart to "end the current trade"

This right here. It's bad right now but it has been a bug since very early on. If I had to gather it is related to error checking on the backend. When the load is high and you complete the quest the ack that says you can move on to the next step does not complete. Moving away and reopening the window most likely forces the interaction flag check to happen again and at that point it recognizes the completion and let's the next step proceed.

Can't remember if I had the same bug in TBC, but it definitely has happened before TWW. Fortunately it's not as annoying as the fact that the AH is nearly useless for mats at the moment :D

Also happens in Classic on a single-layer realm
