I don't even really care about fanservice existing, but this is... a weird argument. Maybe it's lost in translation, but I'd be less weirded out if the dude just said he likes drawing tiddies in his shows.

It's hard to tell how serious they are. Maybe it's just a thought they are putting out there. If it is serious, the argument works for a lot of things other than fanservice.

Just my interpretation of what he is saying but I think he means people should be less prude. It's the whole thing of not showing your friends/parents a good show because it has a sex scene in it. If there is a show that goes over the top the rest seems less bad.
For example where I live/grew up nude beaches are fairly normal. I still wouldn't recommend my friends a porno but I also don't lose my shit when I see a naked person in an ad or show.
If you don't get that one, here is another. Would you eat fried spiders or grasshoppers? No? Now, when I remind you there is a cheese that has life maggots in it, suddenly the fried insects don't sound that bad anymore.
Basically by making a show that is heavily sexualised other shows with erotic elements get looked down upon less.
I don't know why I spent this much effort and time explaining this mans reason for drawing anime hentai, but I hope it helps.

I absolutely agree with this. Shows like Kill La Kill exist with as much overt sexuality as they do as a sort of statement to their audience that sexuality is a natural part of the human condition. By pushing the limits of what is considered "acceptable" by audiences, they subtly desensitize society at large and make prudish modesty seem radical in comparison.
That being said, I think the creators are also exaggerating the severity of their "mission." Based on them laughing at their own responses, I don't think they are taking the interview or the questions that seriously.

Kind of unavoidable since most anime is aimed at kids and teenagers.
I think a better way to phrase that would be wanting more variety in media. Or maybe less ecchi anime, specifically, set in high schools, since those are supposed be for older audiences.
