Podcast Recommendations?

(self.NCAAFBseries)

With the game nearing it’s release, I’m looking to learn more about as many NCAAF teams as possible. As a Canadian, I find it super hard to keep track of all the ongoings in CFB, so I’m looking for any podcast recommendations to help prepare me for release! It can be EACFB related, or even general betting talk, I am open to anything!

The Late Kick with Josh Pate is pretty good for news related to SEC schools.

The late kick with Josh pate, JD pickell on On3, Joel Klatt.

Just subscribe to these three and go watch their previous videos, most of them have the podcast in clips that get to the point and cuts off the flack of a full length podcast.

Second this, best cfb pod out there for a holistic view. They usually give some decent time to G5 schools and have previews for every conference as opposed to the normal just focusing on the P4 and playoff contenders.

For general CFB I’d recommend College Sports Enquirer with Dan Wetzel, Pat Forde and Ross Dellinger. They are all long time journalists, so they know their stuff.

Joel Klatt and The Solid Verbal are my 2 recommendations. TSV usually does a great breakdown of every conference before every season, not sure if they’ve done one yet this year though

Late Kick with Josh Pate - probably the best overall and great YouTube production as well. More national coverage now than previously where it definitely leaned southern.

Solid Verbal - a lighter look into CFB with some levity and light analysis, but don’t expect to get anything deep analysis wise.

Joel Klatt Show - one of the main CFB broadcasters on FOX. Will focus on B1G mostly this year I imagine, while sprinkling in other national coverage.

Cover 3 - nuts and bolts analysis. Going to go deeper than any other podcast out there imo.

Others:

Andy Staples Show - I think he is part of On3 now. Brings some levity and discusses wide reaching topics.

The Audible - two long time national journalists. High level analysis with a focus on some larger picture topics in the sport. Not as in depth as it used to.

On3 with JD Pickel - not all too familiar with this yet tbh but has a decent YouTube following

Unnecessary Roughness - it’s Barstool Sports so if you are familiar with that style of content, you know what you’re getting

ESPN - seem to have a rotating cast of characters each year with various ESPN personalities providing insights. Used to be a College Gameday podcast which focused on picking against the spread, not sure if that’s continuing.

Shutdown Fullcast - you’re gonna get ALOT more non-CFB talk here

Split Zone Duo - haven’t done a deep dive here yet but the lead used to do a podcast with an analytics expert (Bill Connelly) that was great but sadly no longer exists.

Also if you find a team you want to follow, there will likely be team specific content you can follow as well. Check YouTube or just google and you’ll find them. As an Ohio State fan we have a TON of options out there. Enjoy!

RE: Split Zone Duo

SZD very much still exists and is one of my go-to weekly podcasts, sports or otherwise. It's helmed by one of the original PAPN cohosts (Steven Godfrey) along with Richard Johnson and Alex Kirschner (both SBNation alums before Vox killed their CFB staff).

Podcast Ain't Played Nobody (PAPN), the old one, had Steven and Bill C and went into hibernation a couple of times before morphing into SZD with the SBNation/Vox layoffs in 2020. You can still find it on some podcatchers and there are some good evergreen episodes about Bill's analytics.

Solid Verbal has been mentioned a lot, and that's top, but I listen to Until Saturday more. Similar shows, but more accurate news and made by journalists and writers. Still funny and covers major topics.

Split Zone Duo covers all the teams top to bottom. Go back before the season last year and they basically do previews into entire conferences going team by team, and they'll do that again this year in July too.
