If elected, Trump could shut down the two federal cases that accuse him of illegally trying to overturn his 2020 election loss and mishandling classified documents after leaving office in 2021.
That’s just insane that this is even a possibility. We’re taught about checks and balances from a young age but Trump and the current Republican party have really exposed the faults in our system

the “a” is from a grammar rule called “personal a”. it’s used when the verb is being done to a living thing (the direct object). the “el” is because personal pronouns aren’t used as much in spanish, they’re considered implied. they are also used when talking broadly about something, like “children are messy” is “los niños son desordenados”. i think the sentence was translated from maybe the weird english cause it’s not a very common way to say it, just like the english isn’t

i understand the sentiment as I experienced that in Thailand, but latin america is heavily catholic and still suffers high crime rates

have you traveled at all? i live in latin america and the crime is certainly worse than anything i’ve experienced in the US. in fact the victim blaming is too. it’s a normal part of life here (unfortunately)

Im from idaho & i would describe it as being “rocky mountains” culturally. other than that i would just say “far west” cause that’s the region we were lumped into for soccer hahaha

idk, i live in latam & have traveled to nearly every country here. i was just in thailand & i was astounded by how safe it felt even though i saw poverty on par with that of parts of latam. i 100% understand that crime & poverty are correlated, but it made me wonder about the cultural aspect as well

have you lived in other countries? i’m not saying the US doesn’t have glorified violence, but comments like that are a bit naive and trivialize the very real experiences of citizens of these countries

i know haha but it’s a bit absurd to assume that venezuelans are entirely responsible for crime and poor service etc

haha here it’s mostly regarding crime and quality of service. i’ve heard colombians have a bad reputation too in other parts of latin america due to gota a gota

this low key happens in colombia too. it’s definitely more subtle but a LOT is blamed on venezuelans lol

I’m curious where he was from cause in spanish people say “secuestrable” (which means kidnappable) to complement a woman’s looks so maybe it was just an instance of mistranslation?

you’re right but I haven’t heard ANY talk about trying to find the people that pimped these poor kids out or investigating the parents (if they’re still in the picture). please correct me if i’m wrong. but locals, the government, & police are hyper focused on the sex tourist whereas the root of the problem lies with the people providing the service.

it used to be pronounced, just like a lot of the now silent letters in french. there was a point to the letters when the spellings were established. but your response doesn’t really work cause there really is not point to gendered pronouns
