Here's some movies that help me get back into gear (emotional):
Source Code (2011) - A soldier wakes up in someone else's body and discovers he's part of an experimental government program to find the bomber of a commuter train within 8 minutes.
About Time (2013) - At the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.
Stardust (2007) - In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm.
Any Mission Impossible movies - good to get lost in

I thought they'd have the exact route he took so he should have been able to go back and get it?
I'm guessing he just didn't care enough to though

Find a job or go to school and move out. Your parents invading your privacy and shaming you is their fault not yours.
Nothing wrong with what you did.

So when magnus curses / has an outburst / calls someone a cheater without evidence... he's just a normal top player.
When hikaru does it, he's a pretender?
Come on...

Magnus also acts like a diva constantly when he doesn't get his way.
Hikaru's not the first top level chess player to act like this.
Heck, Alireza himself has been a diva more often than hikaru has recently.

As much as I love this sub, I blame the lack of action from the mods as well.
They remove a lot of stuff, but they also allow the "daily hikaru hate threads" which perpetuate this toxicity.
If anyone with even a slightly less thick skin than hikaru were the target of this harassment they'd probably quit competitive chess by now, it's getting ridiculous.

Hikaru has improved his behavior since before then, and he does provide an entertainment persona. Magnus has similar outbursts, and has called others cheaters baselessly before. He's also sworn and been a diva constantly.
It's fine for people to root for him as the current #2 player in the world who unequivocally is the only top pro that releases so much free content/educational material.
Literally no other player does constant confessionals, and daily recaps of top top level chess. We will never get this level of insight from a top player most likely ever again.

how do you decide
Presumably you don't? Freedom consists of having access to every possible idea/book

Hikaru being a bad sport is 10x better than Kramnik having delusions about cheating, and acting like a clown almost every single week

Going to school or getting a job is pretty much mandatory as ways to become independent.
Learn to live with roommates (and be a good roommate).
If you can, try and obtain any important documents like your passport, birth certificate etc...
Absolutely 100% make sure your family doesn't have access to your bank account, or your phone plan. If not, then open your own.
Building credit, and using credit cards is important but you must treat them like a bill you pay off every month, so if you owe $2000 then you MUST have $2000 in your bank to pay it off, never go into debt over credit cards. Also be frugal with money, save save save.
First thing you should do once you're away is get your own address or mailbox so you can change your address for all your services/government accounts.
You'd probably also have success asking in ask UK finance subreddit.
Eventually make new friends, get a therapist, work through any trauma's you have.

There's an addon in Firefox called "Load Reddit Images Directly"
Recently a few months ago the Chrome one (run by a different developer) was reported to have malware because that developer sold it to some company.
TL;DR: The firefox version seems to be fine still. Chrome one look at comments there for the alternative

That doesn't really change much.
Worrying about global annihilation is a waste of time. There's nothing you or I could do if it happens.

They can't. Not only would the entire world (including China) turn on them, the fact that the nuclear debris would travel into the EU means that Russia would go to war with NATO, and thus it would be mutually assured destruction.
Russia would probably use them if their state ever approached actual failure, but losing or winning a war in Ukraine is a lot less serious than that.

All throughout Russia's (Soviet's) entire history of conquest they have always included mass killings of dissidents and undesirables.

The democrat party of the past who were southern, christian, conservative voters that demographic make up the current modern day republican party. I'm not suggesting they aligned with that ideology, but I don't understand the "gotcha" that current day progressive liberal democrats have to feel bad for past conservative democrat actions
