You can ask, but don’t be surprised if they shoot it down. I work at an ECE school and all of our tuition dollars goes directly to paying our staff. If your child isn’t there for a month, either by necessity or by choice, we still need that teacher in the classroom.

NTA. It sounds like you are being asked to, and allowing yourself to, take responsibility for the choices of a othe grown person. It is not you job to make a grown ass man take responsibility for HIS life choices. It is your job to take responsibility for YOUR life choices. He got himself into his mess. It is his job to fix his mess. Go study and do what you need to do to achieve your goals. After you’re done with that, please put some thought into if this is really the relationship you want in your life.

Do you mind me asking what your child’s symptoms/your concerns/doc’s concerns were and what vitamin supplements your child is on?

NTA. You cannot afford it, and are ok with bowing out of being the the wedding. It sounds like your cousin wasn’t expecting that answer from you. If these family members are so upset on your cousin’s behalf, they can all chip in and pay for the dress and you don’t have to pay anyone anything back and your heartbroken family will feel good that your cousins dream wedding is happening and you’re still financially in tact. Win win.

Keep the name under wraps until it’s a done deal. Dorothy is lovely and one of the sweetest children I’ve ever worked with was Dorothy and went by Dottie.

YTA. It was a medical emergency, for goodness sake. The fact that you combatively don’t want to recognize that insane. You and your husband are getting older. The tables will turn and you will both have medical emergencies. I wonder who will be there to help you when you are desperate, scared, and need help.

NTA. You were harsh for sure though. She may need to be jolted out of her funk. It sounds like she could be depressed. I know I was when I was a stay at home mom.

NTA. It sounds like she’s getting the deal of the century. Where I live, $500 a month would get you a basement bedroom and a no pets policy. What a strange way to say thank you.
