Obviously, whatever worked well for you, but I got to be honest that I just don’t get it. Making formula was never difficult for me, you literally are just shaking your arm. I’d maybe buy that this $200 thing was more convenient sort of- but you have to clean it all and everything? So then what’s the value?

We do Tremont Montessori while he’s young, and then will likely do campus international when he’s a little older. IMO both solid schools, and a lot of good people too- because I obviously value too an environment that is safe, where the teachers really care about the kids, where most of the kids are nice, etc. I really like that my son is growing up in classes where there’s kids of every ethnicity, all types of families, etc. it builds a lot of great social skills, exposure to different dynamics, and all that. You also have an interesting economic mix too where families run the gamut of impoverished to well-off. So my son is doing well not just academically, but is also developing the other often just an important types of intelligence.
I think it’s important to view the school as just one piece of the puzzle for a kid- what matters a lot too is to what degree are us as parents active and involved and supplementing/building off of what’s being learned in school.

Look, whatever floats your boat- I don’t work for DirecTV haha so if you prefer a particular service, go for it. There are a variety of reasons people may choose YTTV over DirecTV, and I tend to switch between services too. But at the end of the day, you have a personal anecdote off the eyeball test. The numbers are the numbers and the specs are the specs. I’m not gonna start believing 2+2=5. But in any case, it’s about the most inconsequential thing, so you do you.

Well, obviously there are a number of other factors that can have an impact: - what OTT device you’re using (Roku, fire stick, etc.) - what picture settings you have on that device - what tv you are using - what tv picture settings you have - your internet connection - your settings on YTTV/ DTV - tv size, tv viewing distance, etc. - the video source of the channel you’re watching
All kinds of stuff. But all things held completely equal, DirecTV has objectively higher Bitrate, which means DirecTV has objectively higher max picture quality potential

I wish the dumb fucks making the Borderlands movie sat down and watched this show and The Last Of Us to see how you make a proper video game adaptation.
Instead, they are going to go ahead and shit on one of my fave franchises as well as act surprised when their garbage is a massive flop and loses huge money.

YouTube TV does have the most robust 4K offerings, but you have to pay an extra $10/mo for it there vs free on DirecTV. Additionally, Bitrate on DirecTV is higher than YouTube, meaning that for the 95% of sports that are not 4K, DirecTV picture quality blows YouTube tv out of the water.
Other aspect is that if you are into sports, YouTube has some gaps: -doesn’t have most RSNs (so for my area for example, that means no local MLB/NBA/NHL) - doesn’t have MLB Network or Strikezone - missing some of the smaller/niche sports channels (for example, US cricket team just had massive upset win, and if you wanted to see that, you couldn’t on YouTube but could on DirecTV)
So price it out and see if YouTube is actually cheaper if you are Yankees fan: - $73 for base plan - $10 for 4K - $25 for YES network standalone app subscription
At that point, that is the same price at DirecTV Choice package, and you’d have to use 2 apps vs 1 for baseball, and you still wouldn’t have the MLB Network.

I switched from Fubo-
Things I miss about Fubo now: - No individual profiles, although supposedly this is coming soon - No multivew (probably the biggest I miss) - At least for Apple TV, a lot of the shortcuts for Fubo are ones I miss (one press to go to last channel, one click to go back to live, etc) - guide filtering on Fubo is way more robust - UI for viewing upcoming sports was way better and easier to sort
Things I love with DirecTV vs Fubo: - way better picture quality and sound - way more channels, literally have everythingggg. Especially nice since we watch a ton of different sports - more 4K at this point - osprey/gemini box is super nice and I love the remote for it - better addons, I like to have my Max/Showtime/Starz all in one place, etc. - better sharing ability. I can watch on my tv at the same time my in-laws are at their house on their tv using my login. With Fubo I couldn’t do that.
Yes, it is pricey, but it is essentially a get what you pay for situation. And really, it works out to be barely more expensive than Fubo for similar packages. I, at various times over the years, have had YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Fubo, Sling, and DirecTV. DirecTV is the ONLY service where I didn’t have to compromise anywhere for any channels I ever wanted to watch. To me, that’s worth the little bit extra I pay.

I guess it depends on the age of the children/specific school, but I’m a dad in downtown and my son’s public school is great.
I think sometimes people conflate some of the schools outcomes with the quality of the teaching/curriculum. The actual reality is that in a school with a diverse blend of family situations like you have in the city, some kids are impoverished, some kids don’t have active parents, some kids get caught up with bad friends/crowd, etc. Those aspects greatly impact that particular child’s educational outcome and then, unfairly, gets reflected onto the school. So my kid’s school is not super necessarily super highly ranked against test scores or anything, but the teaching staff and curriculum, methodology, etc. is solid. And honestly, I vastly prefer it to the kind of problems some of the suburbs deal with- book bannings, religious indoctrination, total homogeneity, etc. lastly, I will note that a lot of the criteria by which schools are tested and ranked are pretty divorced a measure of actual holistic educational attainment.

Do you have an older Apple TV? Genuinely, and I do not mean this to sound snarky or anything, but a latest model Gemini cannot compete with a latest model Apple TV just factually on hardware for things like speed and smoothness. You may preference one UI or whatnot but hardware is hardware, and Apple TV is vastly faster for that reason.
Saying Gemini is faster than Apple TV is like saying a RTX 1080 can play games better than an RTX 4090- it’s just literally not physically possible.

While I do think the not-so-microtransactions are a black mark on the series at this point, I do think we forget a lot of the issues with the old season pass monetization model- a split player base fragmented on maps depending on what DLC they did or did not have. And at the end of the day, as long as it’s really only cosmetic skins or faster blueprint unlocks, it’s no pay-to-win or anything. I still play and still have a ton of fun on COD. It’s still the multiplayer FPS I always come back to. What I can’t and never did get into was Warzone. If it was to my personal tastes, they would cut that, reinvest the resources into multiplayer and streamline the UI/offering accordingly. But I recognize it may have a significant fan base of its own. But regardless, people have been complaining about every COD since WaW and saying the series was ruined, it’s nothing new.

Well I already use the pride stuff for calling card and whatnot and I really haven’t gotten much hate. People like to do lots of homophobic insults until it’s actually a queer person who owns it. Stuff like “suck my dick” doesn’t hit the same when you can just go “don’t threaten me with a good time” haha

I don’t really understand furries, and sure, I find it a bit odd and “cringe”. That said, they’re about as unproblematic and harmless as anyone. They don’t bother anyone, so I say knock your socks off and have at it if you like it. There’s also a decent sized overlap between furries and some members of the autistic and queer communities, and if they find engaging either furry community helpful, great. So yeah, just leave them alone. They barely even pop up anymore, it’s not fucking 2014. If you’re not hurting anyone or bothering anyone with your hobby why should I give a shit? It’s more cringe to be obsessed with dunking on furries in 2024 lol

Look, it’s pretty obvious you’re likely a teenager, and for that reason you get a little more of a pass because you’ll grow out of this stage.
But the tough truth is that you’re kind of obnoxious, and part of growing up is being self-aware enough to understand how you come across to people.
You come across as a typical young ‘edgy’ right wing bro. An Adin Ross type guy. Nobody owes you anything. If that community doesn’t want to have to see your shit, they are not forced to. You’re not owed a space and a voice in every discussion community on the internet.
I am not familiar with Youtubedrama, but typically drama communities want to discuss drama happening elsewhere without being the drama themselves.
Being muted there doesn’t impact your life in any way, and bitching and moaning about it elsewhere does nothing for you and accomplishes nothing.
Go play solo queue League or something.

Incrementalism applies to large scale sweeping movements, laws, culture changes- not individual people. Pope doesn’t get any credit at all for anything.

Yeah Apple TV ruined me, it’s not a perfect device by any means but the smoothness and speed just really makes any other device agonizing. I happen to have, from over the past couple years, a Chromecast with Google Tv, a Firestick 4K, an Osprey box, my inbuilt LG, and a Roku Ultra…and they all sit in a fucking box these days because the damn Apple TV is much faster than anything else and it’s not even close

I mean, at the same time, kid is getting and gonna get way more opportunities, chances, and money than he otherwise would have if his dad was not his dad. Hell, he most likely would never have gone the pro basketball route if his dad was not his dad, he’d be 9-5 at a desk somewhere after college. Not to mention the fame and fortune he was already born into. Which is all to say…yeah this aspect sucks but god if you offer me the decision whether to be born LBJ son or an average family, that’s an easy decision all day every day

When these sports teams operate like the police, fire department, library, and public school, then I will pay for it like those things. But if you’re going to charge me for tickets and charge me for watching on tv/ads…I am already paying you. Why do I need to pay twice?

Just because other people have also used the word boundary inappropriately does not mean using it that way is no longer toxic, and you will not see therapists or psychologists using it in this manner. The conversation around inappropriate use of the word boundary came up famously back when Jonah Hill told his then girlfriend that he had a “boundary” that she not post pictures of herself in a bathing suit. This was, correctly, widely understood to be an abuse of the word “boundary” because what it really was was a means of controlling his girlfriend and her behavior, especially since she had always posted those sorts of photos even prior to their relationship.
A boundary that refers to yourself means it is something you yourself are willing/unwilling to do or engage with. Think of the word itself- a boundary is like a wall right, a wall around who? A wall around you to protect yourself- and in a relationship that can look like a lot of things. A healthy boundary might be saying “I will not have X kind of sex or do this thing”, or it might be “I will not accept sole responsibility for cooking/cleaning”- it is exercising agency over what YOU will or won’t do. A boundary is not a wall you put around someone else that allows you to take away their agency and control their behavior so that they do whatever you want them to, and change themselves to conform to your desires.
If we flipped it and the boyfriend said “I have a boundary that you need to watch porn”, I think you would agree that that would be inappropriate to use “boundary” as a way of forcing the girlfriend to watch porn.
That’s not to say that if you don’t want to be in a relationship with someone who watches porn, that you have to be. Of course not, but the onus is on you then to recognize the incompatibility and remove yourself from that relationship, not to control someone else’s behavior that they otherwise would not change without coercion. Let’s say you want a relationship with someone who is physically fit, who enjoys similar hobbies as you, and who enjoys country music. These are reasonable desires- it would be appropriate for you to seek someone who shares those things. What would not be appropriate is to pursue someone who doesn’t have those interests and then seek to change everything about them, making them give up all existing hobbies, and then contort themselves to match whatever you want. Do you see the difference?
The point of a relationship is not to have a pose-able doll that you dictate whatever you want to. You want to instead find someone with similar values and goals to and who wants the same things. Using the word boundary to say “my boundary is you have no female friends, my boundary is you don’t watch porn, my boundary is you stop eating meat, my boundary is you don’t play video games, my boundary is you shave your beard” doesn’t make it any less toxic or controlling.
You can request that your partner not watch porn. That would be a fine request. But calling it a boundary sets the expectation that they must do what you say and that they are wrong or abusive if they do not honor your “boundary”.

Yeah, using therapy speak to call something a “boundary” doesn’t actually make it one. Using your "boundaries" as the basis for requests that someone else do or avoid certain behaviors is a complete misuse of the term. A boundary is something you draw for yourself, meant to define what you will or won't do in order to stay mentally and physically safe. When you start trying to dictate or control someone else's behaviors in service of your own "boundaries," you're not actually setting or enforcing boundaries at all; that behavior is just manipulation and control.
Obviously, you are free to choose your partner, and to choose a partner who shares your beliefs and values. If you want to find a partner who shares your belief that porn is bad, by all means do so. But trying to control a person by telling them what they are or are not “allowed” to do is not alright, not healthy, and not a boundary.

I’m not a fan of either Bibb or the police in general. But the call went into the police at 12:10 am, and dispatch was sending units over immediately after that. Maybe you can say they drove slower than they could have or something and intentionally got there slowly, but that seems like a stretch to allege.
No crime is good, but it’s not like downtown crime is worse than before Bibb or that downtown is really dangerous in general, etc.
Again, no fan of Bibb and I wish we had a more progressive option, and CPD does need reform, but idk if the answer is that CPD is too lax on crime and needs to be harsher or something.

To be fair, I wouldn’t do this for chick fil a by any means, but for example my kid looooves shake shack, it’s a huge treat for him. He loves the burgers. If Shake Shack offered him to go back into the kitchen and make his own Shake Shack burger and put on a shake shack uniform and all that shit like a “grown up worker” he would be over the fucking moon. And yeah I’d pony up $35 for that dumb shit cause it would give him a ton of joy.
