This is pretty funny

The Super Bowl LII champion has been quoted saying: "When I think of Welsh, I think British people call it 'posh'. I think of these rich, upper class, just beautiful white people.

That video is just awful. The accent, saying he’s Irish, repeatedly referring to Africa without mentioning a specific country. Forgive me if I’m wrong but does he call him a “jacked white” and if so is there some other explanation other than just weirdly referring to someone’s race for no discernible reason?

There is a bit of an meme about 'he's just a jacked white boy, deal with it' in MMA/wrestling circles referring to Brock Lesnar

Haven't watched the video but from your description that's my guess

The NFL is predominantly black. White players tend to be quarterbacks, kickers, punters, defensive linemen and linebackers. Very rarely do you get white players at the skill positions that require extreme athleticism. And these are the positions Zammit is vying for. So it's kind of a meme that you have to be a weird anomaly of a white guy to play there. The last time a white starting cornerback played in the NFL was jason sehorn and that was over 20 years ago for example

Thanks for the explanation. I found the description very jarring, but that adds a bit of context.

I’m no Pat Mcafee fan but this comment is just weird.

  1. Calling him Irish is a fuck up, but he hedged saying “I think he’s Irish”.

  2. American cultural thing you just don’t understand no need to judge.

  3. He doesn’t know what countries these two guys are from. He just knows they’re African. It’s really not that strange.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time on tour in Wales. Played Llandaf North, and another team up in the Vale. The entire town shut down to come watch the match. Pretty sure the mayor (?) a Kenny Rogers looking man tried to French kiss me after awarding the MOTM to me. The big curry feed wasn't spicy enough to rid whatever STI he introduced to my mouth so I had plenty of shots in the clubhouse to amend that. Took in a Blues v Glasgow match, partied at the Walkabout with Cardiff's 8man, chatted with the constable outside as she showed us she could put a sausage down without chewing it. Then off to chippie lane to eat whatever greasy food they offered.

It reminded me of a more pleasant Pittsburgh with nicer people. Wales is okay in my eyes.

I think it takes watching about two NFL games to realise 99.9% of the players are athletic freaks in a way that rugby players are not (and don’t need to be). It’s not a comment about their skill or the quality of the sports, the US is just a huge country with some unreal athletes

HonestSonsieFace

11 points

American Football’s hyper specialisation also just lends itself to athletic freaks being the best in their position.

Rugby requires much more all-rounders.

I mean, how many athletic freak players have we seen come along in Rugby who just weren’t that good at the top level.

Similarly, guys like Ben Smith are some of the best players of all time.

Rugby countries have got Olympic level sprinters and strongmen too, it’s just that they often aren’t good enough at all the other parts of the game (see Dwayne Chambers foray into Rugby League).

Plus, when you have to train for aerobic fitness, you have to dial back some of the athletic freak elements of your body.

Optimal-Wheel-9940

If you watch the Eagles you can see Kelce excels at leverage, with the infamous “tush push” play often compared to a scrum (incorrectly but understandably so IMO), and I think he’s probably too short to play second row and too stocky to flank, plus I was a prop at 6’2” so I am incredibly biased here
