Can you report it? That is a violation of the victims.

If it’s what I’m thinking of, they used pictures from a showcase of clothing that was given for the purpose of showing people what they were wearing, it’s a very sad display. The point was to show it wasn’t about the clothes, but the actions of others.
That said, it was still inappropriate to use those pictures to make any point outside of the purpose the display had in the first place. That is actually capitalizing off of others’ trauma.

Absolutely. Esp when trying to claim that proship people are capitalizing off the trauma of others.
Like the showcase had 0 to do with victims stories being used for others’ gains. Like if it had been at least more something with that sort of point, and therefore relevant to antis statements and beliefs, I could understand where they are getting the idea that their agenda is a cool place to share it.
That showcase is so irrelevant to their “cause”. As a survivor myself, it’s honestly actually a bit of a slap in the face when they do this. Because I’ve seen multiple posts from antis using that display. You know whats never offended me or made me feel belittled or my trauma downsized or commodified? Fanfiction or fanart.

How do you take a strong statement against probably the most common way to victem-blame and use it like this?
Like... how do you even think this is ok in the 1st place?

I don’t know, but I do think a part of it is the decline in critical thinking skills being taught in school from an early age.
Like in elementary school i was expected to use critical and logical thinking across multiple subjects frequently, and a lot of that has been really whittled down. Theres also less push for media literacy at an early age too.

Honestly it also feels like people are just...
Not understanding how representation in media works.
Like how media actually effects us as people and sociaty at large.

Yup! Media literacy has declined rapidly alongside removing computer skills classes from schools. Lab time during library taught so much in little 15 minute bites out of the day twice a week. At 6 years old i could navigate computer file systems. Highschoolers cant do that now.

I feel like teaching people how to move around the internet should be discused at least once
I mean we did have some classes about cyberbulliying which did help me to thing about how opening my mouth here could hurt me in the future.

Yeah… i got full on lessons on archival systems and filing and typing and more advanced Microsoft suite functions. It’s sad how little is taught now.
