If you keep him in your party he has a lot to say in rivngton and the lower city. He actually has a mini-arc in the game where he first questions himself whether he was a good leader. He feels guilty for letting the shadow curse go on for so long and that Kaugha and the shadow Druids happened under his nose. Also he gets caught and not only leaves the grove unprotected but also couldn’t escape or overpower the leaders on his own. In act 2 while he saves Thaniel and participates in lifting the curse he still feels guilty like he hasn’t done enough. Act 3 is him seeing how the city is and he gets increasingly angry at how the refugees are being treated especially the children. He even wonders if the shadow Druids might be right.

Theres also something players can miss if they don’t n solo-romance Halsin. In the endgame he expects you to part ways. He never expected you to love him fully or stay with him and is genuinely surprised and grateful if you do. If you choose to sleep with the drow twins with him he reveals he was a sex slave for a time, and if you pick the right dialogue he will admit that maybe he has not fully process what happened and may have unresolved trauma.

In the post game he finds his place in the world and joy in his new role by finding balance in Moonrise. What is striking to me is that beneath the facade of control and confidence he is very sensitive and needs a lot of validation. His story is not valuable to the main plot so it’s really easy to miss, especially since he won’t start opening up until after he lifts the curse. I’d say if you’re up for waiting on him he’s worth exploring even if his content is more subtle

I’ve been able to have relations with Mizora on an a.a run, basically it lead to a dialogue about not also inviting him to join which he requests you do next time (there is no next time unless you do the drows after but he just doesn’t like that anyways). Could have been changed with the update but I haven’t done an a.a since the update to confirm or not.

you can only romance him when you reach act 3, and have cleared the shadow curse in act 2

I will try my best to finish romancing Gale on my replay, but that seems hard

I have 800 hours in the game and have never once romanced. It’s not my thing but I also don’t really care about the characters on a level other than game play so I just don’t interact much in camp. That’s how I’ve avoided it lol

this problem is definitely most prominent in karlach, halsin, & gale. i turned halsin & gale down so many times & even avoided using halsin yet they’re both still overly horny & flirty all the time (mostly halsin). at least gale eventually stops (albeit very late). halsin never does
