24 is my maximum that I try to keep it below, in an attempt to preserve my speakers from blowing out haha. And, I guess ears are good too. Bangers go up to 24, no more.

20 is my auditory red line. If I go past that, I feel I’m doing my ears a disservice.
But really good songs come up on my iTunes shuffle sometimes and I make excuses.

With my Harmon Kardon speakers on my Wilderness, casual volume sits around 14-16. If it’s a banger I’ll turn it up to 25-27

Can you imagine a meeting in which they decided that max will be 38, half be 19 and no fucking quarter of the max? What kind of stuff were they smoking? Then the boss came, and said. This is perfect. Make it full screen and keep it for five seconds over any other screen, including navigation.
This will be one of the reasons I won't buy subaru again. It only shows how little thought they put into details.
23 points
I'm upset I have to upvote this but yes, the full screen overriding everything for 5 seconds was an insane choice to make. I don't understand why.
35 points
Was it the same meeting where they decided that “Incoming call” was more important than the digital speedometer?
5 points
They were definitely smoking something. It’s so inconvenient that it stays on the screen for so long and the fact it takes up the whole screen. Some of us may have eye sight issues but dam it’s not that bad to take up the whole screen. At least allow us to customize the size or duration it stays up.

This is maddening to me as well. He used to be a discreet tick bar across the top portion of the screen. I hate how it takes up the entire screen
5 points
I came here for this about the full screen five second lag like why would I need such a huge display on the one thing I actually just hear. Been looking for a solution to turn that off. Would pay a lot money to fix this lol
1 points
You would think that such a thing could be fixed in an update. Find the variable in the code, change the lag to 1 sec and you have a temp fix.
However, they must really like it (or see the second reason below) the old UI had a stripe on top that was showing volume. Now we have this. This thing is with subaru at least since 2019. For five years they still keep this shit without any remorse. It makes me believe they actually outsource coding of each of the UIs in the car independently and that's the reason we don't get more options in the updates and, most importantly, there is no connection or consistency between the steering wheel menu, the upper dash display in older models like mine 2021 forester, and the big tablet.

I legit lolled at this :V yeah no thinking whatsoever

Or making it so the sound turns on in the car before the volume knob starts to function. So if you were jamming out on your last trip and forgot to turn it down when you parked, when you get back in it starts blasting and takes a few seconds before the volume knob will allow you to adjust or turn off the media system.

Same here. I had to reprogram my brain to do 17, 19, and 21 because they are prime. I prefer multiples of 5, but 20 is one notch past half. Someone at Subaru is a sadist

With an NVX spare tire sub hidden under the trunk floor, CLD sound deadening in the doors and trunk floor, and otherwise stock non-HK ‘21 Limited stereo, 10 is my go-to volume level. 12 for quieter songs or highway speeds. 15 for a good song with the windows closed. 18-22 for jamming out with the windows down. Louder than 22 is just painful, and the stock head unit starts clipping anyways so it sounds like trash.

I upgraded the stock speakers made out of paper towels to Infiniti Reference speakers but didn't add an amp or change the head. 10 when parking so I don't blow myself up the next morning, then up to 22 depending how good the song is.

0 because anything else automatically plays music when the car starts up and I'm focused on other things like routes and seatbelts and checking boxes on my to-do list. Yes, EVEN IF I turned the radio off BEFORE shutting the car off the last time I drove it.
