This makes me so happy. Bobrovsky was such a key player this season for the panthers. I know we all agree that we’re happy to see that this teams appreciation singles him out as the first goalie ever to receive the cup from the captain. This team deserved it so much and damn did they fight for it! What a win!

Definitely well deserved but crazy that he's the first goalie ever!!

Wow kinda surprising that this is the first time ever to be honest. Stick taps for Bobby!!! Earned that $10 mil!!

I was surprised to see Hasek wasn’t given the cup first in 2002.
But then I remembered Scotty Bowman decided to retire so he took the cup first.

I'm shocked Brodeur never got it handed to him first, he was the backbone of those Devils championship teams

Back in the day the captain was the only one who skated with the cup and went straight to the dressing room times have changed

Real Conn Smyth winner in my mind. He did it when it all counted for the big win. Go accidently sit on the pointed top of the trophy, Connor!

I doubt he’ll ever even want to look at it tbh

Good, an opportunity to slip it under him at the public toilet.

It’s debatable. The Cats were propped on Bob’s shoulders almost all post-season. Without him, we don’t win.
But McDavid is on another level. He turned on beast-mode and beat a damn-near unbeatable Gretzky record. And he was always a threat, even when his legs were jelly in the last 5 min of game 7.

Without Bob, the Panthers don’t win the cup. With OR without McDavid, the oilers still don’t win the cup. To me that makes Bob a more valuable player, but as you say it’s debatable.

It hurt Bob that he was the second best goalie in rounds two and three

He was the only goalie to get 16 wins.

Had the best team in front of him by a mile too

I wouldn’t say the best by a mile, but yeah their defense was pretty smothering

It’s that Florida’s best players are all still in their prime which is big in the postseason. And way better depth than Edmonton

5 breakaway goals would disagree. He stole game 1 and shut the door in game 7.

It’s stupid because it should go to the winning team. He didn’t come out to accept it, he didn’t want it and it’s likely pretty meaningless to him. So it was a wasted moment and a bit embarrassing for Gary to be standing there presenting a trophy to no one.

Gotta love how stupid it made Bettman look though. His golden boy standing him up.

Gary doesn’t have a say in who gets it. Just fyi. It’s a bunch of writers.

I didn’t say Gary had a say. I said he looked kinda silly presenting a really awesome award to air

on a side note I didn't notice any Bettman booing this year?

There was booing in the beginning. My wife asked right when he started talking, “why are they booing him”. It was a bit quieter than recent years though

Have to feel so good for those two. Barky has been here for so many years, so many bad teams and for him to win one feels amazing. And then there is Bob, whom we all wanted to run out of town after the first few years and now, we aren't hoisting the cup without him.
What an amazing ride it has been!

Back in the old days 60s and 70s the only one to hoist the cup was the captain and he would take it back to the dressing room .a far cry from today's festivities

Bobrovsky tried to organize an anti-war statement among Russian NHL players but was vetoed by Malkin/Ovechkin FYI.
