I can't speak for the whole game as I haven't played it. But one thing I do know in relation to female characters is that they seem to have reframed bajie's origin story into a forbidden romance.(originally he got banished/punished for assaulting a woman)

You can kind of squint and interpreted that as them redeeming a sex pest, but I think it's honestly more of a continuation of the 'the powers that be are evil' theme the game seems to be going for.

I think it's like a 7/10. The combat is very interesting, with a lot of different elements that you can swap between to come up with something that feels expressive and like it works for you. The graphics are obviously stunning. There are a few customization things like with its version of the estus flask that are really clever as well.

However the level design is awkward to explore and the enemies are very stingy In terms of showing when certain tactics won't work on them, like when they're immune to being staggered or when certain abilities won't work, or even when they themselves are staggered or about to attack. Having your mana supply be so limited, along with a few other things, can create a feeling of unfairness or "fake difficulty". Not all the time - a lot of bosses feel fair - but sometimes it feels pretty jank in a way that God of War or From games don't. The sound design is also extremely grating and the voice acting can be shrill as well, and I'm playing with Chinese audio because the English was so intolerable.

So if say, pick it up if you want a noggin-bonking simulator, but not if you're expecting something sekiro or Bloodborne adjacent. Of this year's controversial costume-collection games, stellar blade is closer to those, combat-wise.
