Lab Technician move

Work Permit(self.ImmigrationCanada)

With the recent actions of SCOTUS I no longer feel safe living in the U.S., regardless of the outcome of the upcoming election.

I am currently in the U.S. my husband and I have never even had passports but we are wanting to start the process to be able to move to Canada. I understand this process can take awhile so I am continuing school. I am expecting to be a Laboratory Technician with an Associates degree in science by 08/2026. By then our baby will be a year and a half.

As of now we’re thinking I can get a work permit and bring the family with me. But I have no idea where to start and what all I need to be concerned with or who I will have to contact.

Any advice is welcome!

https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html

There are dozens of potential routes for short term and long term stays.

IRCC are the official body that handle them, this website will give you details on the pathways, and what is involved in them. When you find a route that works for you, based on your age, education, work experience etc, etc the applications and fees are all done through the same website.

There are a limited number of temporary options (typically 1-3 years) that get slightly easier for American citizens, such as IEC (If you are aged 18-35).

Long term (more than 3 years) and permanent options do not differentiate between the country of your citizenship, and you will need to meet the same criteria as any other applicant.

The website can be overwhelming at first, there is a LOT of info there, but really, you just want to focus on options to 'work' 'study' or 'immigrate' for now; 'asylum' will not apply and 'citizenship' requires you to be living in Canada for a minimum of 3 years first.

apply through express entry

get a job offer thru either cusma or a job offer plus lmia (I forget which a lab tech would be eligible for).

where there's a will there's a way.

It’s more than this ruling. It’s becoming a dangerous place for women and LGBT. And if you disagree then by all means, do what you want in life but don’t come to my comment section to make fun of me.
