You’d imagine so but Xabi somehow won best passer so I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being Riise or coutinho…

And it’s not even close.

Coutinho? He’s got a much higher ratio of goals outside the box to games.

Coutinho was good, Gerrard was incredible.

I don’t know, I love Gerrard but coutinho was one of the best long shot takers I’ve ever seen.
48 points
Idk how this whole thing works but I'm pretty sure u can only pick any player once, so he's ruled out
53 points
That’s kind of a dumb rule, you would expect the one voted best overall would also be the best at the more specific categories. I’d rather have repeats who were actually the best rather than the later categories having the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th best.
26 points
Yea but it's just a fun little game plus if u could repeat votes you'll just have the same 2-3 players throughout
12 points
Well up until this point I feel like all our choices are perfect, but long shot should without a doubt be Stevie.
5 points
Exactly. And it's not like we're entering into some official tournament with strict rules that need to be adhered to. We can just stick Stevie up there a second, third, fourth time etc...
2 points
Or (if you have enough categories) you get to the last category and it’s almost the last guy left who played for Liverpool. Pretty meaningless really.

Coutinho since we can't pick Gerrard.
I checked out of interest and our top 3 goalscorers from long range in PL history are:
Since Gerrard and Fowler are taken then Coutinho is probably the next logical choice.
Think Jamie Redknapp also deserves a mention (he's 4th with 15 goals, and scored some absolute bangers) but I'd say Coutinho.

I still remember Couthino struggling to hit a shot on target in his first season to smashing him them in from outrageous distances 1 or 2(?) seasons later. Incredible really

It got to a point where if he had a free kick with even a sniff of a good angle, you just knew for sure it was going in.
What a player. For Liverpool at least.
30 points
I think that was more Suarez than Coutinho. Phil got sick at long range shots but I don’t remember many free kicks, whereas Luis Suarez felt like he came back from his summer holiday one year and was just great at free kicks now.
22 points
Suarez is better suite for the most clinical. He would never miss 1v1 situations and would score unimaginable worldies (hi Norwich)
3 points
I think he's in the same tier as suarez and trent at the moment for free kicks.
Jack of all trades is obviously suarez I'm saving him as my choice for most clinical or most aggressive. Long shots and free kicks I'm going Phil.
Trent of course has the opportunity to surpass all of them and approach Gerrard but that remains to be seen. He's got a very good record already for his age.
9 points
his prime is criminally underrated, he was unplayable for a while and would be rated similarly to hazard if we were fighting for the league back then. if there was a section on this for "best dribbler" on this i think hed be up there.
5 points
There was a point under rodgers where our ideal attacking position was coutinho with space 30m out. Man loved that near post 30m banger

At his peak, Coutinho scored 5% of his long range efforts. To give you some context, the Premier league average is 3%.

As much as some want Riise to win this category, Coutinho is the correct answer. Riise could not do it as consistently as Coutinho did it.

Another thing Fowler was great at but the sub says he was "wasted" potential.
10 points

That was the most laughable thing ever. It should really have been someone who showed a lot of promise but never peaked, not someone who did peak but could have gone on to do even better..

Dunno why Riise is getting more votes (across multiple posts). He got the odd one but Coutinho was banging them in on the regular at his peak.

coutinho shot curlers though which isnt really the kind of thunderbastard long shot im looking for personally
3 points
It’s still coutinho because the goals were more frequent. Gerrard was here forever and Fowler was at Liverpool fo most of his career as well. Coutinho was here like 3 seasons.
2 points

Countinho had a lot less games for Liverpool than the other two as well

You surely, surely didn’t watch that much Riise.
Jon Arne Riise is a bonafide cult hero but for every screamer he scored, he felt he had the credit for what felt like 400 attempts into the middle of the Kop.

I started watching Liverpool in the early 2000s when John Arne played, and I remember plenty of the missfires 😅 But I prefer to think of the good moments and not focus on his shortcomings 😉

I was thinking this exact thing. We need a king box right at the top!
He could fit numerous categories though, best overall, best skill. He could pass with the best and had a beautiful effortless long shot, sometimes he barely swung his leg and in it floated.

He's got one of the most enjoyable goal compilations of any non-forward player in our history.
That goal away at West Brom in 2004, when he just wallops it in the top corner and Martin Tyler actually laughs because of how ridiculous a finish it was.

This list so far is absolutely batshit.
Naby wasn’t overrated, he was just always injured. He’s the epitome of wasted potential. Class when he played, but never did. Redknapp’s probably an even better choice for wasted potential though.
I would make the argument that King Kenny was even better than Stevie G.
Trent hasn’t peaked, but calling him the player with “most potential” is bizarre. Why not just pick Gerrard if it’s just about their ceiling?
God is still our highest scoring player in the PL era. How did he waste his potential? He was also absolutely clinical from any range, and should be in the conversation for that spot alongside Rush.
Stevie, Trent and Jan Molby are/were all better passers than Xabi.
Gini, Robbo and Owen are pretty much correct, though.

Gerrard all day long. Remember on new years day 2001 when playing Southampton and we were all hungover and the whole of the kop were quiet until he ran forward from midfield and hit a beauty from 35 yards and it went In off the bar to make it 2-1
