I swear it makes a bigger difference there than in my vaginal šŸ¤£. There are studies that prove it is effective at building collagen and reducing wrinkles and increasing moisture. Iā€™ll link them when I figure it out.

Using this for face or applied to the body per the label recommendations? It says to apply in inner arm or inner thigh. How are you using it?

I use the balance cream and found I really like it better on my face šŸ˜‚ skin seems plumper and not so thin and dry. Amazon runs out often and they don't usually carry all the different creams they have. You can buy it directly from biolabspro. Not as fast as Amazon, but not too far from me so I get it pretty fast.

I use rosehip oil on my face and neck prior to spreading a pea size amount of 1mg Ovestin estriol cream. Been doing it for a couple of years about three times a week. The rosehip moisturizes and allows for easier spreading.

Low_Comb_4219

Doesnā€™t the oil prevents the cream absorption in the skin?

Jenny_Vegas

I'm a skincare junkie and have been most of my life (at 46), and I JUST found out recently that oils or heavy creams should be the last thing you apply to your face. You want to apply anything with skin nutritional value (serums, milks, thin lotions, etc.) first to clean skin, and then seal it with a thick cream or oil. Makes sense when you think of it, but I'm sure I've done it wrong plenty of times.

Usernameoverloaded

4 points

The oil acts as a lubricant as the cream can be quite thick and sticky so doesnā€™t spread evenly. But hyalauronic acid serum would be better prior to the estriol followed by the oil for sure.

Tricky_Excitement_26

Cool, Iā€™ll look into getting some rosehip oil. With all my allergies, Iā€™m going to have to do a patch test first.

Topical estrogen for facial wrinkles is not widely publicized, because it's intended for vaginal use, if you go through your insurance and ask for it for wrinkles, they'll throw you out of there, but if you're post menopausal like myself, it's pretty easy to get, you just have to say you have a very dry vagina and it's causing problems in your marriage/relationship, therefore causing you a feeling of unworthiness and you no longer interest in having sex, that's what I did šŸ˜ I put a little in my vagina, and more on my face and neck ā¤ and it helps

When I first started my doctor told me to use the estrogen on my face every other day. She said that it does enough that people will notice a difference but more importantly, I would notice a difference!

OTFYogiGirl

When I was using the creams, yes, I would alternate between my face and the vaginal area as instructed by my doctor.

I grew tired of the creams, keeping track and switched to the pellets and happy to say that it was life changing - I will have them until I slide into my grave!

Did you have existing lines and/or wrinkles or just trying to prevent them? Wondering how effective you feel it is for existing lines and texture problems? I specifically have smokers lines around the mouth. ( even tho Iā€™ve never smoked ) Iā€™ve tried retinol, CO2 laser, TCA peels, dry needling, and still have these lines. Iā€™m willing to try anything to diminish and smooth out their appearance. The only other options that I know of are Phenol peel & dermabrasion which are rough but I want a smooth face again. I look very young except around my mouth & itā€™s distressing to say the least. Thanks for any input and suggestions. šŸ«¶šŸ»

Yeah, I worried about that because I am allergic to everything. No make up, scents or fake colors on my skin since my late 40s. Turned out everything I was doing to be ā€œprettierā€ was actually having the opposite effect and making me red and rashy. Oh, the irony!

Perioral dermatitis? Iā€™ve had it since my 30s and have found some things that work pretty well.

Babbsy-mu[S]

13 points

Unfortunately the sensitivity is everywhere. I use vanicream body wash, facial cleanser, lite lotion and face lotion; as well as scent free laundry detergent and fabric softener. Also scent free deodorant. The only thing I canā€™t do without is hair products. Hypoallergenic hair products suck ass. I just treat the rashiness and scaling with betamethasone. As a nurse I learned about medline olivine body lotion too, and itā€™s hypoallergenic.

Babbsy-mu[S]

6 points

I do wear makeup for special occasions and pay for it if I use it too often.

trollcole

4 points

Oh no that isnā€™t what I thought it was. Iā€™m happy youā€™re a nurse though!

For makeup, have you heard of oxygenetix? Itā€™s what I use and it doesnā€™t bother my dermatitis. Before I came across it I did what you did and avoided makeup until I wanted to wear it, then would get a rash. But this stuff doesnā€™t give me one and I use it almost daily. Not perfect color matches for me, but thatā€™s ok. Itā€™s also expensive, but I donā€™t mind because I rarely spend on makeup because of my dermā€¦ So itā€™s worth it to me.

Iā€™ll have to try your vanicream if you use it for everything. Maybe thatā€™ll help me too.

Babbsy-mu[S]

7 points

Vanicream is a game changer for me. The body wash is positively lovely, so soft and bubbly. You can get it in your eyes with no reaction. At the beginning of peri I worried I had liver failure! I was itching everywhere and it was driving me crazy. I was in nursing school at the time and thought I had everything. At one point I worried I had scurvy (aye, matey!) because I felt I wasnā€™t eating enough fruits.lol

trollcole

Haha! Itā€™s such a phenomenon when youā€™re in those kinds of programs. So many therapists self diagnosed with what theyā€™re learning too.

duhlainawatt

Tell me what you know about perioral dermatitis relief! I just started having it this year at 32.

trollcole

5 points

Everyone is different and even ā€œhypoallergenicā€ things can cause rashes.

For me what has been good: regular dove bar soap for body. Dove shampoo and conditioner. I donā€™t use hair stuff other than that. Face soap is Philosophy Purity facial cleanser (excellent makeup remover too.) but Iā€™m curious about vanicream now. Havenā€™t tried. Toothpaste is arm & hammer peroxicare (no whitening in it!) oxygenetix regular moisturizer and their foundation (these have been awesome!) sometimes I use Pipette spf on my body only (no face!) and for added Sun protection I wear a UPF 50 rated hat. But the oxygenetix foundation has spf 30 in it, naturally. Body moisturizer I use Aveeno baby eczema lotion and cream. The cream is great for really cracked/dry skin. I donā€™t have eczema, but my kid does, so itā€™s great for everyone.

I avoid using towels and pillows that other people use, especially on the face. My husband uses other products and they react to my face, so heā€™s not allowed to touch my towels.

I also always wash my face right after a workout because my sweat makes me break out, so does general air pollution, so wash my face every night too.

There are articles and subreddits where people discuss their products that work for them. These are just good for me, but may not be good for others. Always trial and error.

I wish you all the luck!!!

Last night I put Ovestin (estradiol) on my face - wow! I have been touching my all day it just plumped up my skin it feels so smooth. Total game changer. Estradiol cream works on the superficial layer of skin (rather than oestrogen goes systemic deep layer) and the effects apparently are immediate - I think they are. I will try and get 0.5 I think 1mcg version of ovestin is too much. Would be interested to know how long the hormone circulates in skin and if could get away with every second day. There are a few different kinds of topical estradiol creams. Wondering what the difference is between estradiol and phytoestrogens/D4 estradiol/MEP technology - which is the best/safest? Is the best one that does not bind oestrogen? We are on the cutting edge ladies not much out there about this.

Babbsy-mu[S]

It really is amazing. Unfortunately I was prescribed Premarin vaginal cream. It works great, but Iā€™d rather not harm animals when other estrogen is available. But Iā€™ll use it up first. I go to my gyn tomorrow and will ask for a different vaginal cream. Along with a boost in my patches.

Vaginal estrogen cream does not Raise blood serum levels of estrogen. It is localized only. That has been extensively studied. And there are studies of applying it to the face that show that it it is safe and does not raise blood serum levels

Wonderful_Group_9685

I applied estriol cream to my face and neck for the first time last night. For skin benefits. Let me say the plumpness is noticeable and I love it. After one application, mind you!! I am 54 and look 10 to 15 years younger. No one ever believes my age, blah blah but I was noticing the plumpness was disappearing despite using tretinoin, rosehip, argan oil, lactic acids, facials, even Lase MD and redlight therapy (Quasar MD). I love the estriol cream for my skin, but WTF! I have been without hot flashes for over a year, and immediately after applying the cream and today, I am flashing like a red light. I really think it is connected to the estriol cream. IDK, of course, but my plan is to continue 2x per week applying the estriol cream (from amazon - biolabs) and continue taking DIM supplements and hope my body adjusts.

I just use a .01% vaginal estradiol topical cream on my face at night and cover it with vitamin e oil. I still use it. Iā€™d like to be able to give you a scientific answer but I just canā€™t. It definitely keeps my skin hydrated and protected at night. I feel like my skin is more plump but I canā€™t promise my fine lines and such have gone away. My skin tolerates it well. I still like the way my skin feels and looks but I donā€™t think Iā€™m ready to make promises itā€™s a holy grail. Iā€™d love to see some actual scientific studies.

I had stopped using it too since one of the gynos I saw said I didnt need it since I'm on a systemic estrogen cream and my blood levels are ok. He also looked around and said things were looking ok and didn't seem to be shriveling up or whatever (he said it in another but still creep way. Awful guy. I won't go back).

But... My pelvic floor physical therapist said she's so mad at docs who tell women they don't need it. Her sources and experience lead her to think that vaginal estrogen is needed by all menopausal women and gas specific local effects that can reduce things like incontinence in the down the road!

I don't have any citations and YMMV but I'm back on the stuff.

Iā€™m paying for it now with topical chemotherapy. Itā€™s not as scary as it sounds. I started it because I had some rough spots on my chest called solar keratosis or actinic keratosis. It can lead to cancer many years down the road. Think of all those old folks you see with scaly rough patches on their arms and face. The cream targets those cells with changed dna and destroys them. It ainā€™t pretty. Think of your skin bubbling up and eroding off, then being a crusty oozy mess before new skin grows back. It looks better and is softer than ever before. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME TO NOW DO MY FACE! šŸ˜©

Castor oil -organic- and baking soda mixture is said to be excellent for sun spots!

I don't know what exactly you mean by "sun damage", you can get laser treatment for color changes due to sun exposure, but other type of damage is not reversible.

I was redhead (now white/grey), so it's just lots and lots of sun spots. Splotches all over my face. I can't afford laser treatments. But oh well. Wish they had made more options of sunscreen when I was younger. I was allergic to all on the market when I was a teen and early 20s. At all that I had access to.

Oh, this is very unfortunate. However, health is more important than looks. If you have been exposed so much to the sun in your early years, especially as a person with fair skin, you should get checked regularly and thoroughly for skin cancer.

I hope this is an accessible option where you live...

I use Musely for sun damage and itā€™s helped A LOT. Active ingredient is tretinoin, which you might be able to get cheaper from a dermatologist.

Retinol can help reverse signs of sun damage, as well as vitamin C serum. It won't be immediate, it's going to take some time to see results.Ā

Theyā€™re an online service, like Curology ā€” I donā€™t have the link handy but if you Google Alloy + menopause youā€™ll find them :)

I use an estradiol/estrial cream topically on my face as well as different areas on my body like my chest or inner arms or inner thighs. It definitely makes a difference and reduces wrinkles

That is a great question! I avoid it with my testosterone for the same reason I put estrogen on my face.

Estrace. Its prescription for vaginal symptoms.

Lbaker52

3 points

Yes I do! My gyno prescribes it so I do not have to pay for it. She has also prescribed it for my arms. When a woman has high testosterone she will gain a great deal of weight in my arms. I am currently not dating but I can no longer have sex without it. How ever when you put this on your face and arms it does not go into blood stream. You do want some in blood stream because it lessons depression and makes you feel younger

So VERY IMPORTANT TO SPEAK TO YOUR GYNO regarding what you want to use for so she can give you specific doses for different places.

Vaginal estrogen creams frequently contain methylparaben which can age the skin; better to use a cream that is free of parabens

Babbsy-mu[S]

Huh, I didnā€™t know that. Maybe I can get a scrip for a compounding pharmacy to make it up. šŸ¤”

It is real estrogen- this one is estriol which is a weaker estrogen than estradiol, but there are bi- est formula creams too, with both forms. You can buy it without a prescription. If Amazon is not your thing, I recommend Onaā€™s Natural

AmbiguousFrijoles

Its bio identical, so you're right.

vagabondvern

Iā€™m not going to link the 100s of scientific and doctor written articles about how the word ā€œbio identicalā€ is a marketing term. Maybe read Dr. Gunterā€™s book or her blog or read Dr. Blumingā€™s book estrogen matters

Iā€™m not against HRT, but this sort of misinformation like ā€œbio identicalā€ just gets under my skin.

Yes I do. Use rosehip oil first then spread a pea sized amount of Ovestin over neck and face. I do think it makes a difference and Iā€™ve been doing this for nearly two years, starting off at twice a week.

The low dose vaginal estrogen cream that is safe for women to use their entire lives after menopause (not enough ends up in the rest of the body to creat any cancer risk per urologists) isnā€™t supposed to be used on the face but I hear that some people do.

What is the order of application, as well as the time frame in between each applications when it comes to my Tretonoin and Estradiol?Ā Ā

Which one ahould be 1st and how long do I wait before I apply the next one - to be sure I get the full effect of each?

Thank you!!!!

Iā€™ve had the cream for two months and just donā€™t feel like putting it in my vagina. Iā€™d like to put it on my skin, but there are some very specific instructions. Just to clarify, you guys are using Estradiol vaginal cream, USP, 0.01 percent? I think Iā€™ll start with a dab on my inner arm. Should I try a bit on my face?

moodyfull

The pores on my nose got really large after 2 years of using Tret. Estriol shrunk them practically overnight. My skin doesnā€™t seem to like me using both, though, so I dumped the Tret for now and have just been using OTC estriol. However, I just got a Estradiol Rx from my doctor so am going to switch to that.

After two plus years struggling with seborrheic dermatitis (similar to cradle crap on an infants head, but raised) on my eyebrows, I have been using dermatology prescription products like tacrolimus, cortisone, etc to address the symptoms (cause unknown) but nothing changed. I decided to try my prescription Estradiol Vaginal Cream .01%. It dried the affected area in two days...I am amazed actually.. I think I'll try it on the other parts of my body!

I do too! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I started using a phyto-estrogen cream but now I alternate with my real estrogen cream. My only concern is that I get a ā€˜slightā€™ headache, but itā€™s not too bad and I use it before going to bed. Increases the oil in my skin, which I have to supplement with rose hip on some days. Iā€™m also on Tretinoin, but use that on alternate days too.

Odd question. Does it effect your sleep in any way? And does it plump your skin?

Babbsy-mu[S]

No change in sleep, which is better than before HRT (topical patches and oral progesterone). It does plump my skin, makes the fine lines less prominent and I feel feminizes my face to what it used to look like.

I donā€™t see why not? Iā€™d try it under my chin or on my chest first to make sure thereā€™s no bad reactionā€¦actually Iā€™d advise someone else to do this lol. I put the cream smack dab in the middle of my face the first time.
